Blinds: 10k/20k

Hero (BTN): 15bb QclubJspade

Villian 1(SB): 11bb

Villian 2(BB): 40bb

Hero??

I had recently doubled up by shoving Q10 into Villian 2 who called with 79. I think the right play is to shove but Villian 1's short stack is making me consider a fold – he has been playing very passively.

unless payouts somehow dictate otherwise, I'm shoving QJo very confidently. he called you 97 because you shoved 6-7bb and he can bust you without risking much of his stack. he can't call that light now, and i'm assuming he's going to reshove. you can't raise/call, and i don't think you want to raise/fold 1/7th of your stack in a spot that bb's going to take very very often. he can know your light, but there's nothing he can do about it really. it's certainly unexploitable to shove there. you'd shove like J9s and stuff here, so you should probably be shoving better than that too. i'm limp/calling or r/calling the absolute top of my range.

villain 1 playing passively is good for us more than it hurts us i think. it means your decisions are easy and villain 2 has a tougher decision to make since he risks doubling you to more than his stack when short stack only has 11bb, putting himself in position to actually get 3rd.

Thanks for the analysis! Yeah I felt like I'm playing to win, not blind away waiting for the short stack to bust. And as you said, with this stack size I didn't believe there was room to raise/fold.

I like a shove for the reasons Jacob described.

Equilibrium says you should even shove when sitting in the CO 4handed with QJo. In this case ICM does matter of course. Giving stack size and the fact that SB is shorter than you and that the BB will resteal with probably any pair and Ax hand I think I'd shove all day.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I double checked nash and this definitely looks like a shove. Just needed confirmation I made the right decision.

I shoved and the BB woke up with QQ – gg!

Yeah I don't think there's anything you can do about that, it's just bad variance.  Well played, gg
