Pre Flop: (t14400) Hero is BTN with 4 of diamonds 4 of spades
Hero raises to ???

whats best here?

raise/fold

raise/call

open jam

SB is fish and loosing player with not much experience. BB is winner 400k on 49k games and pretty aggressive

i think open jaming here is better as BB will play back at me here a ton making r/f not really an option

for icm calculations payouts are:

4.5k, 3.2k, 2.4k

looking forward to your input

cheers

I agree that open jamming is the best play here with 44. We have by far the shortest stack so the best play is close to most +cEV play. If we raise, BB will likely call with a very wide range and small pairs are very difficult to play at this stack depth. If we raise, it should be with the intention of raise/calling or raise/4b jamming. If he is likely to 3b jam a wide range as well then I lean even more towards open jamming because it prevents many hands in his 3b shoving range from flipping with us.

I like to jam here, but when jamming here you have to realize you cant make your jam range purely weak hands that you dont want to r/f but dont love r/c'ing.  By that I mean hands like 44/55/KQ/A8 type hands, that are really good 3 handed but are not fist pump geting it in when r/c'ing.

if you want to jam these hands, you have to add SOME balance.  Maybe also jamming ahnds liek AQo/AJs.  Occasionally jamming hands liek JJ/TT.  You dont want to make your jamming range purely the bottom of your value range.  So sprinkle in some good hands into your jamming range.  This way your raising range is the top and bottom, which a lot of people already expect, but your jaming range is a tad stronger then just the middle of your overall VPIP range.
