Hi guys, i notice that when i am deep stacked, i am losing a lot of chips when i 3bet with AK, mainly because of my cbets. Today, I am thinking of just cold calling this hand when deep.

You 3bet a guy and the flop doesn´t come with the A or K. Do you always cbet?

Hey Guppy ,

this is a very common topic,

I am NOT a tpe pro but im 50k profit winning mtt player,

i hear you man, i lost lost many BIG sunday majors last 18 with aks etc etc.

it really depends on table image position, stack size , how is in pot etc etc etc etc etc etc!! but…

you can either play aks or ako two ways…

open/ 4bet stuff……..to any action… or play it safe ie flat someones 3bet and if you dont hit fold the fucker ! as i said it really depends in your stack size and what stage of the tournament..

IMO… if you are 50 bb deep +  vs vilian similer or bigger stacks …open/flat….play it safe….anyone under your stack size gamble but again its very hard to comment… bigger stacks can bully you so its good to 4bet stuff it..i feel your pain bro i lost many big ft coz of AKs….

but if you 3bet pre you always really have to cbet any flop but any good player will know to play back you regarding flop

It's hard to really give any kind of universal advice. Whether flatting is better than 3-betting depends on your opponents' tendencies to call 3-bets, their 4-betting frequencies, opening ranges, and a variety of other factors. Whether c-betting is better than not c-betting depends on how often they're going to attack your checking-back range, what the board is, how deep the effective stacks are, etc etc.

The best advice I can offer is to move away from trying to have a fixed strategy. Try to work on adapting to your opponents, to the board, and the situation in the tournament. Above all, don't get scared of playing AK postflop. The number of times I see people shove all-in for an absurd number of chips because they don't want to play AK…it's a really face-up play. AK is just another hand, and it's a strong one. Don't second-guess yourself.
