I’m OTB with about 40K in chips at the 600/300 75(?) ante.

Limp from early position, limp from the CO, I look down at KK and raise to 2500.

Everyone folds except the CO who calls with about 14K behind.

I don't have much of a read on the villain.  He was moved to our table within the past half hour.

Flop comes out 6 7 8 rainbow.  CO checks to me.

What’s my play here?  Thoughts on 3B pre sizing?

Sizing pre is fine. Not sure what your read is on villain and what he would be limp/calling your raise with but I'm betting somewhere around 3k on this flop with the plan to call off unless villain is a complete nit. I think his limp/calling range here is mainly just small to mid pocket pairs and probably broadway cards. That being said he could have some sort of suited connectors. I think he piles 55,99,1010,65, and 98… all hands which we are ahead of. It's close and I know you don't like that flop but I can't imagine bet/folding this flop. Really is villain dependent though and what your read is on villain. This is why it's very important to pay attention to everything at the table and remember what hands villain has shown down, etc.

I think the iso sizing pre is good, and it was obviously effective too. I think you should always cbet here, pot is about 6500 so I'd make is somewhere around 3k. If he calls then you can pot jam turn. If he raises here then I am getting it in.

I'd also add suited Ax to his range as well, so there is a chance that he will have caught a pair with top kicker or some kind of str8 draw backdoor flush. I wouldnt be surprised if you got check jammed on this flop a lot of the time. Limp callers always seem to put the iso raiser on AK AQ which obviously wiffed this flop so if he has any piece i think he will ship it to a cbet and I'm snapping.

Well, I played this event and know it wasn't me who limped. lol  Your raise is good.  I cbet that flop 100% of the time.  I'm with the others guys on this clowns range.  Most of these limpers were calling with Ax or suited KQ, KJ, QJ, small pairs and a few others……….

Cbet 3k-3.5k is fine depending on the limper and calling a jam……………..

Pre is fine, and with an SPR of 2 on the flop, I doubt I'm finding a fold post. Bet 3000-3500, if he jams I wouldn't be thrilled but expect to be ahead a decent amount of the time. If he was a little deeper, I actually wouldn't mind checking and pot controlling since I'm checking most of my give ups on this texture so it would make sense to check back strong hands as well. But there's little you can do if he's going to speculate with 14% of his stack and get there on you.

Ok,  I guess I can update this on what I did…

The flop scared me as I think it hit a decent amount of his calling range.  Like I said before, I had little read on the villain.

So I shoved.

Thoughts?

too big.  you let him fold things like 99 and TT and he might even fold things like A7 or whatever.  Bet an amount that lets him think if he jams you will fold.  Probably something like half pot would be just fine.

Yeah, I feel like I panicked in this spot.  I ran some numbers with Pokerstove after.  I gave him about a 13% calling range and still had over 70% equity.

Yes, you sure did panick. lol  There were LOTS of fish in this tourney and I had 3 at my tbl.  I had one guy who limped from early position w/ QQ, got 3 callers.  Including me in the BB w/ J3dd, I flop 2 pair and stack him at 75/150.  Sooooooooooooooooo, you did not need to jam.  You want to build a pot.  Sure, the flop isn't the best and another scare card could come on the turn.  But, you have to give me a chance.  Like KB said, what if he's got 99 or TT.  Bad players do limp with these hands and you could have gotten his entire stack.  But don't listen to me.  All I did saturday was play for over 12 hours to bust out 55 vs JJ in 72th place. They paid 45.

Again, with any premium or huge hand, you want try to extract the most value.  Even if you did the Brian Lemke (poker beast) and did a mini cbet (make it 600) and get called by the limper.  Bomb the turn…….. lol   Seen him do that once and got paid big time.  Was told he did that at Borgata in the Summer Open (The event he won or went deep).  He's pretty good 😉

Just learn and handle your business when you have this situation comes up again.
