Playing for 5 hours, new to table, read on villain is that he showed an 8 on a 10 7 4 board after 4 betting small on the turn.

Anyway blinds are 150/300, i have 18k, starting stack is 10k, villain is big stacked, he opens from MP2 for 700, i flat my button with KJo, blinds fold. Flop comes 9 6 2 with 2 clubs, he checks, i figure he has an ace high type of hand that he doesn't want to bet, so i bet just under half pot trying to rep a mid pair, and he calls. Turn 8, he checks again, i bet 1.2k, he raises to 3k, and i jam my 13k stack in for 10k more.

Good/bad? I'm pretty torn on this hand, and none of the TPE guys im travelling with are sure if it's a good spot to jam or not, though I have run the hand past a few of them.

Will post result in due time

My personal style? I want more equity when I make moves like this. So we think villain is laggy and we're making a high variance play on a board that would usually be pretty good for a LAG player. Just doesn't seem like a good play to me. Not to mention the blind levels – just no point to punting so hard. We can play small ball in multiple pots or 3b him pre relentlessly and slow him down if that's our goal.

pretty much this. just dont see why this is needed this early in the tourney.

much better to do it with at least a flush draw or something here

Problem with this is, if he has any decent part of this board eg Top pair good kicker, piar plus draw, flush draw + gutshot etc, I dont think this type of villain everfolds.

why wouldnt he cbet his A high hands? if he is laggy surely he has a range weighted towards c/r or c/c given check on flop since he would b/f most of his air.

I agree that he isn't likely gonna c/f the flop, esp if he is an agg player and so you are going to have to barrel to steal this pot.

You are repping a super narrow range on the turn. He either has air or nuts with the turn raise and given his c/c, c/r line I think he is weighted more towards a hand than air there. I don't expect him to c/c a FD on the flop so it's hard to see a hand he is even semi-bluffing there. So as played I think you are taking a high variance line with questionable FE and maybe no outs when he calls.

Overall I just check back the flop.

I know you said that you were new to the table and i am speculating a bit here with your image and situation,  i noticed no one else has mentioned it plus it is something else you might like to think about.

” Internet kid calls ep raise on button”.  image could be judged by age, dress, talk and play so you need not be there at the table for so long.

You could be on a handicap to start this play/bluff,  your image is important and i noticed you did not mention it.

I will give less credit for you having a hand on the button there plus possible internet kid image even less likely, on the plus side when you do have a hand there i will pay you off often so i suggest be aware and use that image.

PS. if you are a 50 year old i am a idiot and disregard

Thanks for the feedback guys, and yes one eyed mule, I am only 19 years old.

Villain ended up having 10 7s, which kind of shocked me. I guess in hindsight he has a pretty polarized range here taking this line, and he would more likely have a nutted range having taken this line against me.
