When I raise AK with around 30BBs I have every intention of going all the way with it. However, in this spot a loose passive player flats a 12BB 3b and I wondered whether getting AK in here was actually correct. I tried to stove both players ranges against my AK and found this:

SB (66+,ATs+,KQs,AJo+) 33.53%

BB (88+,ATs,AJo) 34.05%

Us (AKo) 32.42%

Which would make this a fold since if we take BB having effectively shoved his hand we need 40% equity. Does anyone ever fold here?

BTN: t1305 13.05 BBs

SB: t1230 12.30 BBs

Pre Flop: (t150) Hero is CO with A of spades K of clubs

2 folds2 folds, Hero raises to t250, 1 foldfold foldff  , SB raises to t1230,BB calls t1230, Hero???

Do you think the range for the loose passive flatter should be wider than this?

The SB's range should probably be a bit wider, too.

you don't need 40% equity for this to be a plus EV reshove. You only need like 30% in the 3-way pot, and in the heads up side pot you have enough as well.

(88+,ATs,AJo)-46.737%

(AKo)-53.263%

Seems like you took the right steps, but I dunno why you assume you need 40% equity 3-way to make a shove profitable. 33.3% equity will breakeven with no blinds, antes, or previous money of yours in the pot.  You shipped 250 in, plus the 150 for blinds, making this a clear re shove if you assume those ranges are correct (they seem a little tight but thats a different topic)

I assumed that BB is likely to call us if we jam 100% of the time so worked out that my initial raise + SB's shove + BB's jam = 5649 and it costs u 2939 to make the call, so looks like my maths was way off – it was quite late! Groan… So we need 34% equity vs both players. For the main pot we need 26.6% and for the side pot we need 50% equity, which we do against that range. Not sure what went wrong with my Maths, but I can now see that mathematically this is a reshove. Thanks for the feedback.
