I just joined yesterday and i was watching bigdog's sweat vids when i saw him 3 bet an utg opener with AJo. I remember him saying flatting is a bad option there cause you wont know where you are at in the hand. I don't like AJo oop cause i don't play the hand well enough to be porofitable i think. But i would like to know why 3 betting it is the best option there as he never really went into detail about it. I don't have this play in my arsenal cause i tend to give utg the benefit of the doubt most of the time barring i don't see the player get out of line from there. what is the theory of 3 betting it there?
I don't remember what vid it was i saw it in as i wathced a lot of them yesterday but i believe they were both deep enough to play a 3 bet pot so assume it to be 50-75 bb's deep in this spot.
sometimes its best just to open fold AJo to an utg open but if they're not super nitty you can 3bet and have more playability since you won't hit an aceo r jack that often and when you do it kinda sucks, this way when you miss you have a lot of power to bluff being the 3bettor
so would it be a 3bet , c-bet flop and fold to any resistence unless we hit and proceed cautiously?
ok as a person who does not have that play in there arsenal i feel it is because of my personality. i used to be the tightest player in the world cause in general that is who i am. then i found out how to open my game a lil more and have had some success with it but sometimes i still dont pull the trigger cause i am a *****. with that play i would be playing way out of my comfort range how could i prepare myself so that i am more comfortable with doing it. or if i am just not comfortable should i be folding.
oh and i do have a problem with bluff barrelling. i have a hard time not barrelling off my stack once i take control of the pot and there are any draws on board cause i feel people float way to often and i hate to give up. does this make this spot more of a dangereous play for me to add.
