I’ve been noticing a lot lately strange 3-betting size, which usually signified a strong hand when it came to showdown. Here’s an example below.
Blinds 50/100; Ante 10
Player UTG+1 – open raise with 225 chips
Player CO – 3-bet 355
(both players mid-stacked)
This bet is much less than what I would normally see 3-betting but often I would see hands like 99+ or even AQ+. But lately I would also see similar bet 3-bet sizing with suited connectors as well like 9Ts from mid/late positions.
Anyone else come across or see these small sized 3-bets?

Good hands come around a lot less often than bad ones, so there’s some reason to think that if a player who usually uses one bet size suddenly uses a different one, he has a bad hand. Of course, if you decide to start folding too much to such raises, that’s easily exploited, and this is a very weak read to begin with, so I wouldn’t suggest making huge deviations from your normal play on that basis.
