Hello!

Just wondering how you guys play this, I thought about check shoving flop, but didn´t like much, then i fold… saw some of my draws today, and i am playing really passive those.

Thoughts?

Bet the flop. Reasonably strong draws that aren’t strong enough to check-call or check-raise are generally best played as bet-folds.

Would a check-raise be completely wrong to do here with the second best flush draw, and a gutshot ?

With the stack sizes you’d be committed right? If so, do you check-raise or check-shove? I’m not sure it matters.

I rarely think of check-raising when no one has the betting lead though. I’d rather take the lead here. It works as both a semi-bluff and a blocking bet. Check-calling can potentially cost more (V bets pot, I would probably bet ~60%), has no added fold equity and gains less information. Say bet-fold costs 400 versus check/call which costs 690 and I assume we check all turns so if V bets the turn as well we (assuming we didn’t improve) probably need to call and get committed (or shove) or fold; we’ve already spent more and we still don’t know if we have lots of equity or if V is barreling with a hand like a pair with the naked Adiamond

@ Faucault: If we lead and V flats (heads-up), and the turn is 9heart….?

I think you can barrel the turn effectively if he calls. He might fold 6x or a 4 with a draw. I think it also depends on the type of opponent that calls. I don’t think check folding is very good after leading the flop.

I’m curious what everyone else thinks though and why?

Yes. The problem is that none of your outs is to the nuts, so you really don’t want to inflate the pot so much. The Ad becomes a bigger and bigger part of people’s ranges as more bets go in.

Do you prefer passive play?

Why not just raise it to 800 pre-flop, pots already 690 from a bunch o’limpers?

Not something I’d do all the time, but that looks like a spot most opportune.

We fold the first sign of aggression, in all streets, unless of coarse we hit really well.

We could even try a delayed CBet on the turn if it checks through the flop

What do ya think?

I’m Flamin’ Norah almo!

Did you win the Main Event?

$500 buy in? The last time we spoke about 180s you were talking about mixing in some $2.50s!

Maybe it wasn’t you…?

No main event cry, Holdem manager mistakes the buy in when it import hands, this is $6.60 turbo I think.

That was me talking about the 180s hehehe, i almost give that a shot, need about $1k to buy new computer.

Ahhh never mind…brother I have come to a sad realisation recently…

I have realised I am crap at poker.

I have been in denial…until I watched the new Foucault series…and realised that his new “beginners series” is way more useful to me than some more advanced stuff… I never used equity calculators before I started at TPE. I realise I am one of the guys who posted hands which I should have worked out for myself with equilab etc..

It wasn’t that I was lazy…I just never knew how to do the analysis.

I do some work with equity calculator but not much as I should, but I still think that post hands and discuss with other players are the way to go.

Andrew´s series are an awsome way to improve, there is a lot of content in, I am studying “getting paid” and “hand reading” for some time already, maybe if I watch 10 times more I can learn hehehe, never quit tow cool.
