I'm trying to work on my bluff game, which I recently decided is miniscule and I realized I hadn't watched Brokos' Bluffing series. So I'm doing that and I have here a hand that I can't tell whether I played well or not.
Midgame in a 2$ rebuy/addon after addon, blinds are 1000/2000/200 and this comes up:
Merge Network $750 Gtd [+R, Turbo] (80660810-1) No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t1000.00/t2000.00 Blinds + t200.00 – 7 players – View hand 2633118

Nate231 (UTG): BB = 26.9, t53791
thomasj300 (UTG+1): BB = 48.5, t96900
Os1rls (MP): BB = 10.4, t20710
rooferd1068h (CO): BB = 19.6, t39200
BigMoney5050 (BTN): BB = 5.1, t10120
SNILLY (SB): BB = 13.1, t26120
Hero (BB): BB = 8.9, t17800
Pre Flop: (t4400) Hero is BB with 2 7
Nate231 calls t2000, 4 folds, SNILLY calls t1000, Hero checks
Flop: (t7400) K Q 4 (3 players)
SNILLY checks,
Clearly I need to see what the UTG player does. He's playing 36/15, 3betting 20%, limping 18% over just 30 some hands and I don't have much read on him. He has limped before so I'll put him on middle strength hands with occasional traps. AA, 22-66, AX+, K8o+, K4s+, Q8s+, QTo+, JTs, 9Ts.
Hero checks, Nate231 checks
Turn: (t7400) 5 (3 players)
SNILLY checks,
So Nate decided not to bet what should have been the easiest flop for him to take down. If he's not trapping, he's giving up. I decide this is a decent situation to bluff because I'm at the bottom of my range and the villains have shown weakness.
Hero bets t2000.00, Nate231 calls t2000, SNILLY folds
.. too small? I thought it would be good because people like to induce with minbets, don't they? I figure if nobody has a heart or pair, they're not calling Ace high. At least I got one fold.
River: (t11400) A (2 players)
Is it time to follow through or give up? If he has an Ace it'll be hard to get him off it, but if he doesn't, he could put me on an Ace and fold his air and queens to small bets. I could get him off a king, but he probably doesn't have a king, right? Why would he not bet his king on that flop, which gets value from queens and flush draws? I should worry about getting his weak hands that will beat me if I check to lay them down, yeah?
Hero bets t4400.00
Any thoughts are well appreciated.

The turn can't be TOO bad, as you are laying yourself a great price on the bluff and I agree that your opponents have shown a fair bit of weakness. Just because you're at the bottom of your range doesn't mean you should bluff, though, especially not before the river. Given that you checked your option in the big blind, you are going to have quite a few hands that all have near-zero showdown value, and bluffing with all of them will be too much, so you need to have some way of choosing the best ones. The place to start is equity vs calling range, of which your hand has none. Any heart, even a bad one, will make for a much better bluffing candidate.
As played, I do think it's worth betting river, probably half-pot or so.
