Stars $5 tournie. Villain's 6th hand at table, this is the first one he's played. Preflop – would anyone just fold? As played I'm sure he has worse Tx hands in his range, plus maybe flush and straight draws so are we just getting it in? Of course there are sets (44,TT,77) and over pairs (JJ-AA) so does anyone fold here?

i mean if he is really good he could be flatting the top here. but readless at this bi i dont give him credit and remove JJ+, which leaves 9 combos of sets, heaps of 10x and heaps of flush draws. gii

I'm guessing, mid pair non set (66, 88, 99), lesser tens (j10s, q10s, k10s) where he thinks he is protecting and believes his raise is pure value, considering that board doesnt connect with an utg range because there are no broadway cards. Or he is possibly agging a flush draw. I dont think he ever has a set here because his raise sizing is so big relative to your stack….if he has a set, he is effectively killing his action more times than not. It looks, smells and tastes more like a protection bet where he is trying to push you off big cards and take the pot down right there. You can eliminate premium pp's too considering I just dont think the villian calls a 2.1x and leaves it up to 7 others to jump in the water because he just gave them odds and lessen his odds of winning the hand.

Also, you are betting a little over 1k into a 2800 chip pot. Thats a great bet to induce a spazz, so you shouldnt be that surprised that you got raised. I think the bet is fine if you want to induce a raise but there are wayyyyy too many cards that hurt your hand on the turn. Hearts, broadways, and less likely, any straight completing cards (I think you can rule 98, 56, etc. out considering he is utg+1 and there are so many shove stacks and a 50bb+ stack waiting to act). So, I would personally bet a little more than half the pot. Something like 1525-1750.

Personally, I'm taking him to the dollar menu and buying him a Double McShove. You cant just flat here. Guess thats why I either have a monster stack or some note next to the tournament saying how I am the world's greatest stack punter. In fact, I just punted the chip lead and about 70k in chips with 12 people to go in the Lock cubed 4k. Yeah, 8th in chips…just doubled, still 8th in chips.

In a 5 dollar tourney, who knows. He probably has j9 of clubs and is building a pot for his back door flush draw.

Especially with these stack sizes.
