Early in a $10 ignition MTT. We have exactly 20bbs in the LJ. MP1 limps, and we have A4s. Whats the best play here? More broadly than just this hand, my thought is that we should mainly be shoving or folding here rather than opening, because to open over a limp, I’d think we’d be opening to approx 3.5 or so bb, which is too big considering our stack, though maybe I’m completely wrong. What should our range look like to play this type of spot?
Thanks!

Hey Chris, if the pot is 20% or greater of my stack, I am GII. I don’t see anything wrong with opening to 4x here, say, because although A4s is a profitable shove ftom the LJ, it seems a lot of bb’s to risk early in a T, if someone wakes up behind you.
WRT what my range looks like, well I basically discount the limper, unless he is super tight, and might be trapping with KK or AA. If he has any kind of definite vpip/ pfr gap, I will just raise my standard LJ opening range.
