Hi guys
Hi all!! So ive only been a member here for less than a month – Was getting pissed off with my stupid mistakes/leaks (which still exist!) in mid/late stages of MTT's and stumpled upon this site – Very interesting reading/watching!!
Anyways to cut to the chase tonight I won a $3 sat through to the $200+15 game this sunday.
TBH ive never played any games above $20. Obviously I dont expect to win the tournament, I am assuming I play my regular tight game and loosen up in the later stages + target certain players – (or play tight the majority of the game and just try to cash as it ould really help my bank roll)
I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick guide of difference between the levels/style/what to expect – Besides the fact most players will be thinking multi leveled now + making less mistakes etc etc!
Thanks!

what tourney is it? if it is the sunday million or something like that, it will prolly play like a $20 freezeout anyway, with a few better players thrown in, due to all of hte satellites

not sure about party tourneys, but i am guessing it would start the same time as the sunday million and the 888 majors, which is around 4am perth time
My advice is to be play a bit tighter and more aggresive postflop. Otherwise they will see wekaness and run over you. dont be afraid of flipping since your edge here is minimal. If you happen to build a stack pick some spots but I would play tight Aggressive until close to the bubble. Believe in your game and do not vary too much though, trying to change it just for this tourney too much is a recipe for disaster (believe me I have been there :))
Sorry I cant think of more specifics but its hard to do generic recommendations without knowinf your game.
Your edge is probably not gonna be bad early as there will be plenty of satty winners and fish in the early stages. Would espect that to change once the bubble breaks so if you really do feel like you are -EV once you get to that stage then you just really have to be willing to get your money in on flips and what not. Most importantly, don't go en expecting not to do well! Implement the things you have learned here, make adjustments to your table, play tightish if you need to but play your big hands fast and for value and try to accumulate chips. I think you will find that you are better than most of the people you are playing against.
All this being said, I've never played on Party Poker so I really can't speak to the field strength there…so I am making some assumptiions.
and finally, GLGL!!!
This is gonna be almost 100% paying attention to your table imo. If you have a hud use it. Pay attention to everyones styles and stuff, im sure there will be some fish that never got out of 2005 and didnt realize there where other poker sites than partypoker.
You also need to forget that the tournament is bigger than your used to, this will affect your game and you will probably play sub optimal. But let us know how you do, glgl tid.

Thought I better work it out for myself at least!! Its starting Monday 5.30am NZ time. Very early Easter monday for me then! So would be around 330am Australian time ? haha very early.
hey exodus, I actually won a seat for this tourney as well last Wednesday and its the first time I will be playing it this sunday, so I'm looking forward to it.
I have started playing on Party regularly the past two months mostly just the $6-$22 buy in range. I won a seat for the mid $30k guaranteed $99 rebuy recently, obviously way above my buy-in, but I think there is some great advice provided above. I think what tilted EV said is very important:
“This is gonna be almost 100% paying attention to your table imo. If you have a hud use it. Pay attention to everyones styles and stuff, im sure there will be some fish that never got out of 2005 and didnt realize there where other poker sites than partypoker.

I one tabled the $99 rebuy, looked up each player at my table on OPR through the whole tournament and just tried to think through ever decision not to make a mistake, stayed aggressive and didnt leave the size of the tournament affect my game. I ended up in 5th as well (subtle brag!!)
Best of luck on Sunday, and if your interested check out the TPE skype group, I will be on it Sunday and my username is mcgcork on skype.
Cheers
rule #1 DONT PLAY SCARED!!!
try to play your normal game, of course you can play a lil tighter than usual cause as far i can remember the structure of the PP major is pretty good! but you have to take your spots. just dont blind down without trying, especially when you get short, you have to play your regular pushfold game.
on the bubble its no shame to nit up, cause mincash is pretty good for your br i assume.
and always remember what happens happens.:)
