Hand 1 is close and against a lot of people I would fold but in this exact spot calling seems good.

Hand 2 seems straightforwardly correct, like not even close at any decision point.

1st hand is a fold for me. I think we are heavily banking on a set or an OESD to continue on that hand. MP2 and CO are in the hand, and MP1 will also most likely call the re-raise. I don’t like the odds of 88 against 3 other players even if we are getting a good price

2nd hand – Despite getting a lot of equity, do you guys think it is a call pre? SB might have just anything here with his big stack, but in my opinion, 98s plays a little better than Q8s. If you hit your Q, you are not even sure if you have the best Q. As played, check-fold is the right move I think, and well played.

1. Yes we’re banking on a set and getting the right price to do it as long as original raiser doesn’t 4b. Going to be pretty trivial to get stack in when we hit.

2. And AA plays better than 98s, that doesn’t make 98s a fold. Poker isn’t about certainty. One of the nice things about a dry sidepot is that it will be easier than usual to get away when you’re dominated, but that won’t happen often. Plus you’ve got position.

and on top of what andrew said there is also a thing called minimal defense frequency from the blinds to not let people auto profiting on their steals/raises.

with the dead money in the pot Q8s is a fist pump call

For the first hand, why isn’t it a squeeze spot? Is it because you’re turning 88 into a bluff? Or is it simply the EV is higher to set mine?

4betting here would most likely commit you to call a 5bet shove and this cant be too good at the 20/40 level

Also if we flat and the action gets crazy behidn us we can still easy fold
