Only fourth hand in and btn opens and flats my 3bet ip. He calls my cbet and the worst card turns, the ace of spades to complete the fd, oesd and brings an overcard.

Have stats on villain from previous tournies: 19/16/42/8.3 (vpip/pfr/aggr/3bet) over 348 hands. He's a $19 lvl multi mtt-sng grinder w a profit of $13k and has played over 11k mtts-sngs on 2011. At the time he was only playing two mtts.

I think he could be flatting a fairly wide range ip, such as broadways, pairs, strong aces, SAs, SCs..

It's the type of flop that I expect to hit villain's range pretty hard either having a made hand or strong draws.

So how would you have played the hand starting preflop?

Pretty gross – would seriously consider check/fold at this point. If we check/call we face a big river bet and now we're guessing twice.

I would take a stab to rep the ace, that A hit a large part of our 3bet pre/cbet range.

He’s raising the button and should be expecting to be played back at often, so his range doesnt have to be super strong here, especially this deep with massive implied odds and position.

I two barrel for sure. If he flats again or raises after the two barrel then I can give up but we gotta put out another barrel. I make it a good size too since we are so deep and then we can really find out where we are at. I make a 2/3 pot bet on the turn.

It's the first lvl where there's no incentive in stealing the blinds 250bb deep w/o antes. Villain could be building up a loose aggro image from the start raisnig a lot ip hoping to get paid later in the tourny.

I could rep the ace but if villain raises me I wouldnt know where I stand with villain repping or having a flush,  straight or an ace for top pair or even two pair with the ace.

So should I bet/fold if villain raises me or bet/call a raise? Check/call a bet and check/fold to a big bet on the river?

It's so early on in the tourny that without reads I prefer to be cautious.

Edit: this reply was typed before Hawkeye posted his, but was posted afterwards. (if any of you care :p)

I bet/fold that turn and most likely check/fold most rivers if he flats our turn bet. Yes it is early but there is no reason you should not represent this hand on the turn.

I think the Turn is where you need to make your decision and it's either bet/fold or check/fold. Best case scenario is Turn goes check/bet/call and check/check on River but highly unlikely.

Plus he's a winning player who raised pre and flatted a 3 bet, then check/called the flop. His range is pretty weighted toward stuff that is beating us on the Turn. I doubt he has an underpair or something like KJ/KT

i like bet-folding turn and check-folding river. pretty sure villain would float flop with just about anything becasue we are expected to cbet a bunch of the time, so we can rep the ace here a lot of the time i think

I elected to c/f and keep my loss at 10% instead of 20% or possibly more.
