After watching the recent KB, BigDog and TTwist stick it to the man video where BigDog says KB needs to open up his shoving range I wondered at 20BBs effective with antes what would be the appropriate range for shoving on the BTN. I plugged the numbers into SitNGo Wizard and it said it was +cEV to shove 100% of hands, so ATC! How do you feel about this?

Below is a hand that is only 13BB effective, but the actual hand is rubbish! Shove or fold in this spot?

Poker Stars $11 No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t300/t600 Blinds + t50 – 8 players

Hero (BTN): BB = 14.1, t8480
SB: BB = 13.1, t7880
BB: BB = 10.1, t6070
UTG: BB = 11.4, t6865
UTG+1: BB = 9.9, t5965
MP1: BB = 12.6, t7533
MP2: BB = 7.8, t4710
CO: BB = 2.7, t1610

Pre Flop: (t1300) Hero is BTN with 3 of hearts 9 of clubs
5 folds, Hero ???

Keep track of your opponents 'fold to steal %' in the blinds which will help with these spots.

This is an interesting thought swet, although I feel that flatting/raising a steal is different from calling a shove, isn't it? Or does someone who has a high fold to steal % have a much tighter calling range of LP shoves. I've never thought of it like that so thank you for highlighting this!

mistergj, a steal, for statistical purposes, is either a button or sb raise/shove, so (1-fold to steal percentage) is his calling range from a late pos shove if you ignore flats, which would rarely happen with 13bb stacks

You're all so shallow that 14 bb's actually makes you CL of this table … 93o is a snap fold.

fold to steal sb% and fold to steal bb% will help you formulate a shoving range against your specific opponents. If they have been folding a high percentage of the time you can widen your shoving range and so forth. Keeping in mind that if you have been stealing a lot people will/should be adjusting their ranges as well.

As others have stated here, 93o should be a fold. Even if my opp. had 100% fold to steal I'm not shoving that hand in this spot.
