thats the 33FO on stars, we have left 12, so 6 handed play with blinds 1.250/2.500 we have 42k therefore almost 17BB

UTG+1 we shove or fold?

i dont see raise/fold or raise/call as a good play… so we either shoving or folding… the fact that we are 12 left effects our play here?

note: there are 4 stacks behind and 3 of them can call us easilly cuz they have 100k-130k but they seam to play somewhat tight, so i dont expect a call from A6 or somthing like that…

(i am not asking if its +EV move or not in genrall… but in this specific situation what would u do and why 🙂 )

its a tough one with the 3 big stacks behind. that makes me lean towards a fold. if you had 12bb then its a shove for me, but with 17 i think you still have a fair bit of time to play

I think taking the more aggressive line here is probably best (easier said then done when you're in the heat of the moment, that I know) but with JKo 6 handed I probably take the shove spot. If you win you pick up the valuable blinds and antes (4k or more). You are approaching the FT bubble and players tend to tighten up at this stage. Shoving 42K is significant even if someone has 100/130K it would still put a nice dent into their stacks. I probably shove here mostly because…

A) 6 handed and JKo is a strong hand considering 6 handed play

B) you are on the FT bubble and you need to take advantage of others tightening up to make the final table. Players ranges for calling SHOULD get smaller (ie not calling correctly as PANDA says so often) which makes the shove even more profitable.

C) You can get better hands to fold here often (small pairs, raggy aces etc)

D) If you get called by a small to medium pair (22-1010) you are flipping and even if hands like A10 or AQ wake up you still are only about a 60/40 dog. The only hands you REALLY don't want someone waking up with are AA,  KK, AK, AJ etc..

how did the hand turn out?
