Hello guys,

after watching a few videos and browsing around this is my very first forum post here. so lets get it going.

Following situation:

Pokerstars 11r post rebuy phase stil lfar from the money. table is not the easiest for that donkfestival it normally is.

Poker Stars $10+$1 No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t400/t800 Blinds + t75 – 9 players
TournamentPokerEdge.com Hand History Converter

Partyliel (UTG+1): BB = 26.8, t21433
rdcrsn (UTG+2): BB = 16.0, t12837
Augustinhoo (MP1): BB = 3.9, t3133
SerAlGog (MP2): BB = 14.4, t11550
Hero (CO): BB = 18.2, t14599
sl0tt (BTN): BB = 7.4, t5924
RuiNF (SB): BB = 22.9, t18288
dimi asg (BB): BB = 11.5, t9236
Albandy514 (UTG): BB = 8.4, t6722

Pre Flop: (t1875) Hero is CO with Q of hearts A of hearts
Albandy514 raises to t6647 all in, 1 fold, rdcrsn raises to t12762 all in, 2 folds, Hero raises to t14524 all in, 3 folds

Flop: (t34046) 4 of clubs 8 of hearts 5 of hearts (3 players – 3 are all in)

Turn: (t34046) J of spades (3 players – 3 are all in)

River: (t34046) Q of diamonds (3 players – 3 are all in)

so my assumptions are that UTG is shoving pretty wide with a range like:

22+,A2s+,K9s+,Q9s+,J9s+,T9s,98s,87s,A2o+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo

reg iso shove is about:

66+,A8s+,KJs+,A9o+,KQo

so there is 21284 in the pot and i have to call 12762 therefore i need about 37% to be break even.

assuming those ranges ic can overcall 99+,AQs+,AKo

so my questions:

1.) do you think OR ranges vs rnadom are accurate enough?

2.) is overshoving ranges accurate?

thanks for your replies

great first post!

to be honest, i cant see anything wrong with your logic, seems really good actually.

if you win this you have like 42bb or something and then you are in great shape.

just run better imo

the UTG shove could even be slightly wider because of the blinds hitting him next hand, getting it in here is great. think your ranges and everything are pretty spot on. also the equity and edge we can realise with 40bb is way stronger than that we derive from push/folding correctly.

Ugh. rdcrsn is such a nit. I think the re-shove range you assigned is too wide.

Seems like a spot where reads could have a big impact. But what if we just scoped him as we were time banking and we saw he was a solid winning reg with no other info?

I go with it in that case and try to accumulate a big stack since we're still far from the money and it's also not a soft table according to OP.

Great first post. Thats how you think through hands. Yeah sure, rdcrsn is “nitty” that doesnt mean he cant recognize when another players shove should be extremely wide

def going with this spot.

I play regulary with rdcrsn and one thing is for sure, he is going to shove, fold or call properly in that kind of situations. With that being said, he is not going to iso that wide. Without checking I would guess his iso range is 66+, ATs, AJo, prehaps ATo. Against that range, AQs is the bottom of my calling range but I guess a high stakes tourney player may not balance his range with AA and KK in a 11r tourney (and therefore call instead of shoving). Therefore I think you have to call.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I don't think people are iso shoving that wide from EP.  Too many people behind to wake up with hands.

Plus, I just hate getting it in with AQ, since QQ+, AK is in everyone's range, but there's a big dropoff in the frequency of AJ's/KQ's showing up in iso's like this.

I'd fold personally.

hi guys,

thanks for the reply.

so i think reviewing all the posts its really a boarderline spot. Taking a less varinace route i would tend to fold and try to get chips at a much clearer spot.

just for the records: UTG shoved T9o and rdcrsn had JJ

cheers
