villian is 44/7/5 over 390 hands. he plays alot of hands. He is really sticky and it takes double barrels on this guy alot.  snap check/calls flop and turn. It feels like a draw post but when he does it on the turn i got kinda concerned. What is the bet on river?

I would check back the river I don’t think there are a lof of worse hands that can call a third barrel and I don’t want to face an AI. Sure he can maybe call with some QK, QA I assume he 3bets most of the time, 89,QJ, QT, TT, JJ or QQ are ahead, JT we are splitting with and any other Qx (i.e. Q9) or most combos (J9) would probably fold the 3rd barrel on the river so the only hand I think he may have and pay with is KQ, especially since AK is more likely to be on our range than his.

Given that narrow calling range I’d check for value 🙂 Meaning you get to see what he’s played like that and make a note. If he’s played like that Q4 then that tells you something and I don’t think we were being called by that anyway.

I don’t get the concern here. We know V is stupid loose, you block a lot of the stuff that beats you, and most people are gonna check-raise before the river on a board like this if they have a monster anyway. If he check-raises the river, you just fold. It’s not going to be a bluff, so it doesn’t cost you more than your bet – fear of a check-raise is really not a good reason to check back. I bet it happens less than 10% of the time and even when it does happen is a bluff less than 10% of the time.

Your range is pretty strong, but I still think you can bet 15K – 20K.

Andrew, I get that but, what worse hand do you think will call here?

The thing is sometimes I’d rather know he’s calling twice with a Qx or with a backdraw SD or even with a combo like TK or similar than to bet and get him to fold, or does that not make sense at all?

Any Queen?

Well, you’re kinda rigging the deck here. Of course you’d rather see his cards than bet and get a fold. The question is whether you’d rather see them than bet and have a chance of getting called.

OK, so you check and he shows T9. What did you gain from that? What you have learned? How will you use that information to make money later?

Or he shows Q4. OK, so now we know he’s really loose, and presumably we’ll take advantage of that by doing more value betting, right? Except we already have the read that he’s loose, so let’s just jump to the part where we do the value betting.
