UTG: 11,455 (14 bb)
MP: 29,189 (36 bb)  stats : 16/16 over 19 hands
CO: 20,135 (25 bb)
BU: 26,812 (34 bb)
SB (Hero): 28,574 (36 bb)
BB: 10,875 (14 bb)

Pre-Flop: (2,400) Hero is SB with T T
1 fold, MP raises to 1,600, 2 players fold, Hero 3-bets to 28,374 (all-in), 1 fold, MP calls 26,774

Hello,

Here my main question is in what stack size we want to start 3bet shove. From what I know is up to 30 bb. but what about 30-40 bb or 45 bb? Even 50 bb what is a good approach Mainly with our Med strength hands like AQ, TT JJ etc.

I put the above hand on HRC and shows that we should 3bet shove 20.2%, 22+ A3s+ A9o+ K9s+ KJo+ Q9s+ QJo J9s+ T8s+ 98s 87s which seems a bit wide. Just to add here as far as I remember (I should have note that ) that we were something like 10th/34 remaining players ? sth like that. Obv I don’t want to level up some $$ in payout but I want to win this. So probably 20% shoving range is good given the fact that villain will fold a good % of time ?

So what you think ?

Thanks !

I mean the way I see large shoves (25BB-45ish BB) is that it’s basically saying that you don’t have a non value range for 3betting, any time you don’t have a bluff range jamming can probably be fine under ICM restraints. That said, I would not 3 bet jam 35BB in this spot and certainly not with 20% of my range, you can have some 3bet folds, you can have some flats. overall I do not think 3bet jamming your medium strength hands here just because they’re medium strength hands is very good at all, many of them play best as flats or 3 bet folds here imo even though it gets a bit rough from the SB

Personally from the SB given stacks I just fold some hands like KJo and suited wheel aces and maybe do something like 3bet A10o as well as some of the stuff right below what I’m happy calling like 55,  flat AJo AQo AJs KJs KQo KQs 66-88 and 3bet call AQs+. There are some more hands I don’t want to flat like A8s and 89s and 3betting a couple of those are fine but I wouldn’t go crazy with it, overall you’ll have to be fairly tight in this spot.  10s is probably going to be a 3bet call here for me as is probably 9s and flat 8s…something like that

Hey Richard,

I agree with your reply and thanks for the advice. In which category you think TT should be ? 3bet/fold or flat ? or 3bet/call I think TT we could flat . Because 3bet/fold seems like we turn TT into a 3bet/bluff (or we can assume that if our 3bet get called we are good but if opp jams we are loosing so we muck) and 3bet/get it in after 4 bet I think we could overplay TT there so flat is better?

I know the above question would be easier to answered if we got reads on the opp.

Thanks !

yeah you’re right that it’s kinda close, I think I in general I  value these pairs quite highly and I might often be overplaying them. I think that if I play it right now I would 3bet 10s and even 9s with the intention of calling, but I would definitely not be suprised if this is a bit of leak for me.

I think 3bet folding isn’t good since villain can be jamming worse on us if we 3bet, sometimes much worse so it’s not something I would feel comfortable doing at all (in this spot). Flatting is tricky but it can’t be bad if you’re solid, we’re gonna be floating A LOT of one overcard flops and some ace high flops so it won’t be trivial postflop but I don’t think flatting pre can ever really be bad and if we don’t want to 3bet call I’m pretty sure that’s the play to go for

I would 3 bet call. It think JJ is strong enough. When we jam we are usually not doing well vs a calling range. We can also have some bluffs by 3 betting.
