We have posted a new article from Jamie to the site:

…..set-reset/

It's a good read and I encourage you all to check it out.  Feel free to discuss in more detail here!

I'm a pretty straight shooter, you'll learn that about me as I post on here.

With that said, I think the idea seems really silly, but I actually think it is awesome!

I took a fear of flying course back in the day, and one of the things in that course I thought was really silly, was basically the same concept.  The idea of setting an emotional trigger.

It ended up really helping me, because I found that your brain starts to hardwire a chain of emotional events, things like this can break the dirty chain we construct for ourselves.

I have started saying “nh, good luck” or something to that effect whenever a fish bad beats me with a completely ridiculous play.  I found that when I would get upset about it or even vent, it would result in smaller and smaller things triggering the same emotional response.  Not only that, but they would compound.  What I mean by this is, the next bad beat carries over all the unconscious junk from the previous and puts me in an even worse state.  Overtime, you can build up such huge baggage that it really affects your game and even the slightest “donk move” sets you off like an atomic bomb.

I like this article and I am definitely going to try this technique as silly as it may sound, I am pretty confident this will work well.  Setting up that mental trigger, (basically rewiring your brain to respond to the “RESET”), seems like a really good idea.

I also like the idea in general of having a secific forum dedicated to mental game, or emotional game.  It seems for me that I had the understanding of being a winning poker player down long before I had the emotional self-discipline to make it a reality.  Understanding this side of the game can also really help to drop the feather on your opponents back that sets them on TILT.

Nice article, good idea.
