OMG, I feel pretty good after not playing for 2 weeks. I sit down sign up and around the 45 min mark with a healthy chip stack ( around 150 bb) I get sleepy and bored to death. I start playing stupid and not thinking clearly ….. BOOM I bust out ….. again

How do you guys stop from getting bored?

Should I play more tables?

My ROI would be way better if I could eliminate this from my game.

Yeah my advice would be to load up a few more tables so you always have something to be doing, 2-4 tabling isnt too much of an overload.

OTOH, if you feel you can only manage 1 table, you can spend your down time looking up your opponents on OPR or sharkscope and making notes on their results ROI etc to get a better idea of if they good or bad.

Just a few thoughts 🙂

I'm gonna try more tables, probably 4 SNG 45 man and see how that goes. Great idea for note taking esp in large tournaments. Keeps the focus on that tourney.

i would also suggest more tables.  also find some poker friends to chat with while playing, discuss hands, strat, etc

Makes the grind way more enjoyable!

Play smaller field tournaments so tournaments don't take too long to play, when you get used to long sessions slowly expand the field size

listen to music if you dont already.

also taking notes on players might help as well – give you something to think about between hands. also agree with other posters, if you can handle a couple more tables then that would be good.

+1., especially on the notes. I also surf TPE a lot when I'm playing, watching vids, reviewing posts, etc.

I find myself spinning up a stack in the first couple of hours only to blow it off in the latter stages of the tournament due to boredom. I know it's a stupid thing to play well to just then spew it off but I keep doing it. Going to take some of the advice on this thread and get back on TPE more.

I was also was doing the same thing and was just blowing buyins and realy got into some bad habits,  i sought advice that has realy helped me so far but it has only been 3 weeks. but in that time i have managed quite a few 8 and 10 hr sessions and have not been bored for 1 minute.

I had to list my A game B game and C game,  i had not realized untill i started thinking about my game how many bad habits had come into my game thru boredom i filled a whole page on my C game.

anyway once i had started thinking about all the C game traits in my game i set myself session goals on eliminating them from my game,  i also used my A game traits as how i wanted to play the session and also set some goals on some areas that my game was weak needed some work.

I found by setting myself session goals on improving my game and trying to play my A game was a real challenge and the boredom was gone plus i realy started enjoying playing poker again.
