It's time for cycle 2 of the Tournament Poker Edge League!
You can find the schedule for the first four events here: …..ournaments
Password for all tournaments is: bigdog
If you're on a machine with Poker Stars installed you can get to the tourney by clicking on the Stars logo on the schedule (or in the upcoming events area on the main page).
Also this cycle we are adding cold hard cash to the prize pool. Top finishers for the cycle will be awarded the following:
1st – $150
2nd – $75
3rd – $50
4th – $25
We are also going to have one of the pros review one of the tables from the first league game, so this is your chance to get some of your play reviewed by a TPE pro! And we'll have as many pros as possible playing in events through out the cycle.
Finally, wanted to let you know that we have revised the scoring system. I'll let PottyTrainMe weigh in a little bit on that, but I think you guys will like the new system.
Thanks everyone and lets get as many people in this cycle as possible!!!
Hi Folks,
I think it is awesome what KB and RFB have done to make this a great league and I hope you'll show appreciation by turning out in great numbers not just for the first event but all the way through!
We are using a TLB system for scoring which is a great improvement. It will reward more aggressive play in comparison with the previous system. It will also make it possible for anyone starting out slow or coming late to the party to make up ground in the latter stages. It also eliminates the need to use a max number of scores–all scores will count regardless of number of events played.
The TLB we are using is essentially the same as the PokerStars TLB with slight modification as explained as follows:
1. For the first 10 events (i.e. the first half), 15% of the field will receive points. The 15% is rounded down. So, for example, if 40 players show up, 6 players will receive points. If 39 show up, 5 will receive points. This is identical to how the Stars TLB system is applied.
2. For the last 10 events (i.e. the second half), the amount of runners is scaled up by a factor of 1.5. Thus, the percentage of players getting points goes from 15 to 22.5. This is to encourage participation in the latter events and to generate more excitement as players jostle for position in the latter stages.
3. The amount of points awarded is determined by applying the following formula for each finisher qualifying for points:
TLB Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]
where
n = the number of runners(scaled up in the second half) and
k = the place of finish
b = buy-in
Since all of our events are at a $3.00 buy-in the formula simplifies to:
TLB Points = 15.12 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)]
This is the same formula used by Stars. See http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tournaments/leader-board/explained/ for their explanation.
At some point there will be a table accessible on tpe.mttleague.com where you can look up the amount of points available while you're playing the event.
Good luck all and see you at the first event!

Was wondering why you would call with J10 after a raise, a all in shove, then a call of the all in shove. I mean i wasnt happy to see how live you were against my AK but still wondered why you call. I guess I know now. You just wanted the t-shirt.
Was kidding when I said I just wanted the t-shirt of course I was wanting to win. What happened on that hand was I compounded the mistake of the orginal call of your raise by feeling my reads were right( I put you on AK and the squezze on Ax or sm pp). Once you two were all in it was roughy 1850 for 4980 and felt with two live cards that flop well I should call. Was right on your AK but when buddy flipped over AJ I felt like banging my head. I decided when going into that hand that if I lost I would push my next hand reguardless of what I held. Funny how I felt I played so well on the first table (I thought) Then right from the get go on the other I was a donk. Still need to work on lots with my game and look forward to the next time we all play.

Greetings All:
Very impressed with the 4 hands from the pod cast of the Nov 9 down to 3 players. Then went to the podcasts for the 2 casts on bet sizing. This was a tremendous revelation to me and will start applying immediately. One question: On the turn bet with AA, if you get raised do you fold or are we pot committed and always go down with AA? Can we look at other flops to determine dry and wet flops and advice on each? Looking forward to the final 3 player podcast.
It appears the league play is cancelled. I'm in US and play at Merge; also believe there is Cake and maybe more. Can we start again? Also would love to see more analysis of final table play in November and maybe more early round analysis. Most of us probably have the TV recordings.
It has been commented on here but should stress that live play is much easier than on line. This site is super good. Keep it up with more great stuff.
David
