No stress gentlemen, hope all goes well with your respective issues.

Looks like a great opportunity to pick up some extra points for the rest of us, take advantage while these two poker beasts have a little respite!

GAME 5 Wrap-up

Only 5 runners tonight with Dugg’s missing the late rego by a whisker. The conference call was again fired up on Skype and Australia’s “The Voice” was ringing out throughout the austral timezones in the background. So much, for the hardcore ‘punk’ poker stereotypes.

Mcg amassed a big stack early and and hit flops all over the show. Quad Js got him in the habit of revealing the “one card” showsky, and we did see a lot of deuces as the game progressed. Donskey and Cousteer were nursing short stacks for awhile, with the Don suffering first with K8o into Wabbitt’s T5. Cousteer had a bit of a run, doubling up over 25BB, but then re-shoved AJ into Wabbitt’s Q6s, to get chip raped by a set of Qs…. he subsequently threw schrapnel from the SB into mcg’s KK… and busted. Mcg’s stack tumbled and eventually fell victim with KTs to a Wabbitt 35o earthy wheel …. all this after Wabbitt complained about having a debilitating run of bad beats in other games today and was left HU with the Houndboy… For those avid followers of this league, you know the rest of the story!

Sorry for missing the GAME 6 rundown…. This was the best attended tourney to date, with 10 runners and we were distributed among two tables. Mcgcanwin2 took it down and has been one of the most consistent players, followed by Benny who is crushing this league having finished at the pointy end every time he's played…. and the Don took at 3rd, and given the number of runners top 3 places paid.

GAME 7 lured 8 runners, and we were once again on the conference call.  Unlike the other games, play this week was relatively tight, perhaps the increasing prize pool and the realisation that the league leader will we our auspicious representative has added an increased level of seriousness… Certainly the chatter was was at an all time low, as to not reveal too many Skype tells!

Duggs was the first to exit, and like last week it was a sneaky set that smashed his decent holdings.  This dude thinks about the game deeply, so it wont be long before he features. Cousteer made a few stupid plays and found himself short-stacked with AKs.  Naturally he shoved over the top of a benny open and Clydesdalez raise, and was dominating Clyde's call with JT, but with the board running out A9785… cousteer broke the cats legs and went back to reading the “the mindest of poker”… Benny departed proving that even God can have a crap day busting a QJ open shove into Wabbit's AJ. The chipped up Clydesdalez ran out suited acey duecy to mcg's cross dressing acey kingston and sweated the flush but to no avail.  Donskey, was sitting back reaking of deep-stack mastery, disposed of Wabbit, then hapetimes, winning a rare flip and drilling a turned straight like a lactose-intolerant curry muncher, making the runner, runner flush! He then found himself HU with the fighting Irishman, the battle did yo-yo for a few orbits, but the Don cracked the seal to reign champion of the evening….

well done Dons!

OK the kitty is up to $750… with six games to go, and remember you need to play at least 3 games to register a score and share in the champ!

We're tied at the top this week, so it will be an interesting back-end to the season.  Also, mathematically everyone can still win, even if someone has played yet and still wants to join our caper!

GAME 8… Only four runners in this tourney, so easy points up for grabs….

Cousteer grabbed the full compliment on offer, prompting conspiracy theorist to yoddle ‘rigged’ accusations… not “well done mate”, “your game is truly on the improve”, “we’re so proud!”  …. who am I kidding, with 4 runners and some quality hands…I guess it was just my time.

Dons placed second, McBenjamin third, Clydesdalez 4th…

$810 in the kitty with 5 games to go.

We’re already talking about tweaking the structure for the next cycle, but we’ll leave that for a new thread.

Gear up for Game 9 tomorrow night!

here’s the updated leaderboard— still anyone’s game!

Alright guys I apologise that I’ve been slack with the write-up.  We’ve just wrapped up Game 11 and Benny has continued to dominate winning it along with half the games he has played.  Although he has run good, those stats clearly demonstrate that he knows a thing or two about the game.

Given we have $1,125 in the kitty, which is enough for a ‘big game’ buy-in it has been suggested that we wrap this cycle up and begin a new one.  Although some of you haven’t played three games, we will make an exception and partition your stake accordingly.  This is on the proviso that there are no exceptions by any of the current home game members.

Here are the finishing places for cycle 1, with the exception of 1 game we all made the final table… well done! and great work for everyone’s dedication, committment and enthusiasm.  The game has definitely generated some interesting levelling wars.

cousteer 2 5 6 3 4 5 7 1 4 5 3
Bennyjammer 1 4 1 2   2 6 3 1 1 1
running0uts 5         8
wabbitt999     5 1 1 10 4   7   5
Bytie_nl
Donskey 6 3 4 4 5 3 1 2 2 2 4
Hapetimes       6   6 3   5
Boonos78   6                 2
Houndboy 4 2 2 8 2 7
mcgcork 3 1 3   3 1 2   3 3 9
mavman39     7
Clydesdalez       5   4 5 4     7
sirduggan13       7   9 8   6 4 8
Liverpool                     6

Firstly congratulations to Benny, who cannot be beaten at this stage and will be able to proudly wear his new tpe hoodie and represent the home game down under guys in Event 1 of Aussie Millions.  He gets 50% of himself and the remaining 50% will be apportioned relative to points…

Here’s the wash-up:

LEADERBOARD
Player Games Score* Rank $ Won $$ Pool^ %Share Owing
cousteer 11 113 3 $120 $60.0 7.29 0
Bennyjammer 10 125 1 $1,110 $555.0 50.00 0
running0uts 2 24 11 $0 $0.0 1.55 0
wabbitt999 7 97 5 $390 $195.0 6.26 0
Bytie_nl 0 0 14 $0 $0.0 0.00 0
Donskey 11 116 2 $300 $150.0 7.48 0
Hapetimes 4 53 9 $0 $0.0 3.42 0
Boonos78 2 36 10 $0 $0.0 2.32 0
Houndboy 6 84 6 $0 $0.0 5.42 0
mcgcork 9 113 3 $330 $165.0 7.29 0
mavman39 1 11 13 $0 $0.0 0.71 0
Clydesdalez 5 59 7 $0 $0.0 3.81 0
sirduggan13 6 56 8 $0 $0.0 3.61 0
Liverpool 1 13 12 $0 $0.0 0.84 0

So if everyone is keen for a fresh start: The next cycle will run for 12 weeks and the best 5 scores will count plus 5 participation points for each game played.  The standard $30, 5K, 10 min level structure will continue with a 50% pledge of all winnings into the prize pool.

If anyone has any objections, speak up. I’ll hold off scheduling next weeks tourney until I hear from the majority!

thanks for organising it cousteer, muchly appreciated. Its a super fun game, and although i have ran well i think the game is great because you really have to think about every single spot.

I am happy to start again next week, though i think its up to the other people who have got the smaller shares

To add thanks to cousteer for the organisation of this quest.

Secondly congrats to benny, well played mate and well deserved, I think we can all agree he owned most of us. Good luck and run well in the tourney you choose to play.

I'm also happy to start again, but happy to do whatever the majority wants to do.

what do you think about a new points system cousteer?

i think that one worked ok but i think some account of the number of runners would be nice as sometimes we had a 5 player field, sometimes 9.

maybe look into using the actual stars points system? or something else?

definitely has to be more than 3, i mean i had 5 wins 😀 😀 😀

seriously i think about best “half” or so is good

i also think player numbers have to incorporated too, sometimes we get 4, sometimes we get 10 so i think we have to cater for that somehow

Sussed the stars scoring system… It’s weighted based on number of players (n), place of finish (k) and buyin (b), k = 1 for first etc…

Points = 10*[sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)]*[1+log(b+0.25)]

5 best finishes count, min cycle length 10 games, or until we reach a 1.1K pool thereafter.
Plus 5 participation points to entice regular play.

We’ll try and get a tpe pro to an invitational with a 5 point bounty… This may not eventuate, but we can only ask!

Sign up mate, you’ll be very welcome and great timing. You can join following the details earlier in this thread. Also read the previous posts so you’ll understand our objective of this league. I’m on my iPad so too slack to rewrite the synopsis!

Introduce yourself too in the intro thread, so we can get to know you bud.

OK… Just for transparency I've started the process of transferring $1,125 US from my Stars account to my personal bank account (I haven't withdrawn $ before so its a two-step process – visa/bank account split).  I didn't nominate a Stars transfer due to their awkward limitations and it seems like too much dicking around.  Upon confirmation of receiving this transfer into my account I'll direct transfer it to Benny's nominated account.  Congrats mate! Well done… the cheque, as they say, is in the mail!  I'll let eveyone know when the final transfer is made.

I'll also remind KB to contact you re-shippage of tpe hoodie!

Game on next week… new cycle, some new players and new scoring system… i'll update the details on the Stars Home Game page!

Prop-Bets anyone?
