Busto in 3rd blind level!!…two big hands and both of them were a mistep pre flop that cost me on later streets. Here it is;

Was quite active early as table was pretty soft and manage to increase my 10K stack to 14K just buy using position and scary board textures…small ball stuff so not super crazy. About 30 mins in UTG raised which got my attention because that was his first raise of the tournament, so I’m a little concerned so I flat AKo in HJ and a spewy button dude 3 bet to 550. UTG actually folded so i was like phew and I was confident against spewy guy so i limp raised 4 bet him to 1525…and her 5 bets to 4200! fml Anywhow, I think i leveled myself because my hand was so underepped so he could be doing this with AQ so i jam and and he snaps off with Aces. Down to 3.5K. My thoughts on this hand jump from passive early tournament approach to why did i just smooth call AK to UTG raise to do i ever fold Ace King pre?

Next hand was a mistake disguised as variance. My pockets 3’s got 3 bet on and I called OOP with 22 bigs. Flop comes K76 and we both check! Turn is a 3, i check raise all in looking flushy and he snaps off Kings. Regardless of set over set i did regret playing 33’s with 22BB’s.

Thoughts?

In short i'd probably muck the AK afer the 5bet unless i had a strong read not to. Were the blinds 50/100?

You sound like you have a grasp on live poker, you were OOP, its for a huge chunk of your stack, and if you flat and miss it's going to be pretty hard to outplay a spewface when the stack to pot ratio is so small post flop

Add to that the fact that this guy is also probably aware of UTG's image and squeezing an UTG raise + MP flat isn't a standard steal

You've got plenty of time so i'd probably err on the side of caution here

As for the second hand, pretty trivial fold to the 3bet with that stack size unless there's solid dynamic in which i'd 4bet jam.. just nowhere near deep enough to play OOP/set mine with that hand

Cheers hapetimes….i like your statement: Add to that the fact that this guy is also probably aware of UTG's image and squeezing an UTG raise + MP flat isn't a standard steal…thats a great call…definitly not a good spot to squeeze light.

I dont remember folding AK much pre??….perhaps a leak for me
