This was my strategy with a range in my most recent live tournament, but people at the table seemed to think of it as bad play and out of place.  I've heard online pros refer to plays they'd make live vs online, and shoving this stack size seemed to fall into the faux pas category based on their comments, so I wanted to see what the TPE nation has to say on this topic.  I don't quite undertstand why online vs live would matter here.

thanks!

It doesn't. You don't want to take advice/guidance from the people you're playing against. Most of them don't know what they're doing, and you can't beat them by playing the same way they do. Basically, if a bad player think you're doing something wrong, you're probably doing something right.

They’re upset because they’re too chickenshit to call. They think you’re not playing “real poker.” They can have all the feelings they want, but considering they don’t get any of the money when you win, it kind of makes sense that they would react that way.

The best is when they finally get fed up and call when you’ve shipped with a big pair.

I think it is totally the best thing to shove with a 10-15BB stack, considering you have worked out your range and your table image at the time of shoving. Like many strategy videos in TPE say, if you have 15BB and blinds are going up in 1 min or so which would put you at ~10BB, then all the more reason to shove.

Consider this – if you don't shove and get down to 8-10BB due to antes and blinds and structure going up a level, your shove now can be called by multiple hands, and even with AA, it is not much desirable. And also, you need to double up twice to get to a good stack.

It's important to do it with a balanced range. If you are going to shove with some marginal hands, you need to be doing it with the best hands too.

After I read that phil hellmuth the great smile said that you should start shoving with 30bb In live game. That what i do and it works great. It look like the fold equity is bigger in live games than in small online small tournament.
