Okay folks have a few hands for us to debate over or to slap me in the back of the head for playing.
I’d like to keep it simple so I’ll do a single hand per post, and I won’t reveal the out come till after a good discussion has occurred.
Here’s a juicy one:
I had already busted out once when my pocket Q’s got stoned to death by the turn and river. I was good with that…
well okay not really…
Any way, I bought back in and went to find my newly bought seat. It was all the way in the back and it was a newly formed table so everybody had a fresh stack.
Yes, it was very close to the start of the tournament my QQ got busted…
Well, I got to my seat, and sat down, and a guy walked up and sat in the seat next to me. He looked kind of frazzled, so I went out on a limb and asked him ” this your first buy in?”
Frazzled Man retorts “bawhahaha, fuck i wish, I’ve bought in 11 times!”
I think I just kind of blinked or something oh and feeling mischievous because I knew the answer before I asked him “how many you place in so far”
Once again he strained to laugh, “bawhaha, none!…I’ve never been so card dead my entire life” He went on for a short time and then got preoccupied with his chips.
I felt sorry for him but then I remembered I was card dead in tournaments for a good 15 months, then, well then I didn’t give it much thought.
Now normally I would chalk this up to BS table talk but this guy was FRAZZLED!!! So I took out my imaginary Green sharpie and wrote FISH on his forehead.
Very shortly after I put the sharpie away, we got our first hand, 15 hands later Mr. Frazzled was busted by the Lady in seat 2. To this point in the tournament (this buy in) I haven’t been getting any playable cards for the respective positions, and had only seen 2 hands.
Jumping forward from level 2 to 8,
Told ya I busted early on my first bullet with those Q’s!
Here’s the dynamics of the table at this point:
Level: 8 400/800 anti 75
Seat 1: A young man, maybe 28 or so, that’s played an above average number of hands, won some lost some. seemed confident when he sat down in the 6th level. but after loosing a few hands his brow furled and he became erratic in play and an easy mark for any. Stack: 9000
Seat 2: Lady bout 62 or so, easy going, talks some, Nice lady….the deck hit the woman in the head, so hard in fact, I think it knocked all her teeth out and she got dentures!!! First 2 levels if she played she won. level 3 through 5 she folded lots of hands after seeing the flop, only seen her lose 2 hands when she went to the river. Level 6 thru 8 her stack dwindled from 28K to about 11K Stack: 11K
Seat 3: Grumpy Old Man, like 68 or so, quiet unless he’s grumbling about a hand he just lost…or won. Loose passive player, will play Ax facing a 3X raise pre-flop in any position. Likes to see a turn card but folds if he hasn’t hit by then. (I exploited this weakness, is it wrong I don’t feel bad?), he lost all but 5K and tripled up once then doubled up, then won a few more hands Stack:25500
Seat 4: young man maybe 35 or so. very aggressive, some what loose. knowledgeable in the ways of the force…damn, I mean poker. Stack:21K
Seat 5: no offense to whoever you were I’m drawing a blank Stack:12K ish
Seat 6: man a little older than me say 57 or so, was up and down and only shooting one bullet for the entire tournament. Previous seat of Mr. Frazzle Stack: 19K
Seat 7: Hero: That’s me… no really. Anyway, I’d been playing semi-loose aggressive, this is how I play rebuy tournaments until I have a very large stack or re-buys cease, or I don’t plan on buying in again. I just built my stack to about 34K or almost 50 bb I stop playing this way when I reach 100 big blinds.
Seat 8 and Seat 9 I don’t remember a bunch about them. I talked to them some but can’t remember much about their play, their stacks were maybe a starting stack or a little better.
I’m sitting in the seat before the Hi jack. I got dealt A 10
seat 3 is BB
It folds to me and I raise to 2200
seat 8 and 9 fold
seat 1 calls
seat 2 folds
seat 3 calls
Flop: 3 A 4
That’s a pretty coordinated board and I didn’t like much,
Seat 3 checks
even though I didn’t like the board when it flopped out Seat 1 had a momentary lapse of reason as a brief look of disgust washed over his face, Seat 3 checked and didn’t find him to sophisticated of a player. So a continuation bet was proper here I think.
I bet : 4500
Seat 1 folds as I expected
Seat 3 as usual called here
Turn card: 5
Seat 3 leads out with a small bet for the pot size: 4000
I tank a bit and Mr. Grumpy blurts out: “You can call me I gave you a lot of chips.”
Dealer steps in and said something to him. Thought about folding but, just couldn’t shake that he had worse hole cards than I did.
I call
River Card: 4
Seat 3 leads out with 8K
What’s up, what should I do? What do ya think he has.
