situation

preflop

-im allin with a lil over 40k (and i move my stack infront of me in the middle)

-villain calls (and i think i slightly cover him) but moves only his big chipsstack in the middle

-board gets dealt

-i win the hand

-dealer takes the stack that villain has put in the middle and ships it over to mine where it merges with my stack and ships it to me

-same moment another player who sits close to villain announces that she (the dealer) has forgotten to take the smaller chips he has behind

-i also instantly make the claim that i have covered him

-floorman comes

-divides the chips infront of me in antes and blinds and starts to count while asking me and the dealer how many chips i had before the hand

i tell him min 40k, others say 45k and i tell him i think i covered  villain before the hand, dealer also says i had min 40k and also thinks i cover villain.

floorman announces count infront of me a lil over 60k (antes and blinds not included)

villain has ~ 20k in small chips left

decision of the floorman:

i had to stop the dealer before she merges the chips and it was also a dealer mistake to not count both stacks, get no additional chips and villain keeps the 20k

WTF?

q1: why did the floorman even count my chips and didnt make his decision instantly

q2 how should i stop the dealer when my chips are in the middle and she takes (part of) villains chips and merges it with mine in the middle of the table- not psbl.

q3 why did the floorman totally ignore the dealer and everyone at the table ( cause everyone was telling the same story)

this was only  a 200$ tourney (but still 100k gtd)  (1 level  to end day 1 and close to the money) so not really a big deal

but it still has totally changed this tourney for me

however my bigger concern: this staff (dealer and floorman) also work at bigger european events

what if you get such a call at a bigger final table where chips are worth a lil more money?
