Anyone from TPE going to Melbourne? The buyins are very reasonable… i'm going to try and get down there work permitting

I'm probably only going to go for the first weekend (long weekend) to play Event 1, possibly Event 2 and maybe a main event satellite. If i qualify i'll obviously come back the following weekend to play.
Just trying to find a cheap domestic flight and place to stay now.

I dont think ill make it this time (i am in adelaide) but i have played some of their events before, and i know a lot of people in melbourne that have played JHDS events, and they are pretty awesome value imo. Pretty much perfect for people that take their game seriously but dont have thousands to spend on tourneys to get their grind on and play a few events
The buyins are still more than i'd pay online, but i dont mind spending $50-$100 bucks for the experience and the laughs and also a cheeky little holiday in Melbourne. Do they attract large fields?

event 1 will get 500+ players, so will the main, the other events will get maybe 100-200 for the weekend ones. pretty awesome value.

Have booked flights and accomodation. Arriving Thurs Morning 17th
Gonna play the $300 6 Max NLHE on the 17th Nov (My birthday, so maybe a birthday present ship)
and Gonna play Flight 2 Friday 18th of the Main Event at 12.00pm

I'm staying at
Seems nice, 3-4 Stars $90 a night. It's in the heart of the city so not to far from crown. Guys says I can walk there, or it's a $10 taxi fare.

10-15 min walk, it will take you longer than that in a cab.
Well it's still cheap to stay there. If anyone is going, you better book accomadation asap, the Presidents Cup (Golf) is on that weekend, so ya better hurry. The hotel benny recommended is booked solid, crown promenade where I originally wanted to stay is booked solid. So when I found this one, I just booked it. If I find something closer I can always change it.

nice one mate. i have an npl regional final this saturday. If i place in the top 3 on saturday i win a $3000 package to Manilla which is held during the same week as JHDS, so gonna hold out until sunday until i book JDHS just in case

go to …..tif.com.au or …..ute.com.au and you might be able to find something, although as you mention, even the cheaper places will either be booked out or have their prices jacked up

I'll be there from early friday 11th – 14th playing 4 out of the 5 flights for event 1, its an accumulator/repechage format so hopefully will have quite a few chips for day 2 (hopefully)
I had a great time in Melbourne. Long 13 hours days but fun. Played Event 1 and ended up coming 73rd out of 1615…72 got payed 🙁 i was bubble bubble boy. reshoved AKo against another small stack who was shoving 2-3 times per orbit so i knew i was ahead. The look on her face confirmed it… unfortunatly the BB woke up with pocket kings.
Played Event 3 the turbo teams event and took it down for $3800. Half for me and half for my partner… i also got my first ever poker trophy 😀

one of my poker buddies took down the 50k gtd event 1. it is certainly a nice series for serious but recreational players as it's not out of anyone's bankroll
is he an irish guy? he looked very happy at the bar after the event 🙂
