I know some of you or maybe most of you find my posts bizarre or possibly entertaining at best but i was wondering why with all this latest technology , why a digital computerized sensor which shows the amount of money in a pot in live play as well as a sesnor which displays each and every player stack amount as well? It was implemented in online play many moons ago which is what makes online play very convenient for everyone that plays NL or PL.  It would certainly makes things alot easier knowing how much is in the pot  instead of wasting time trying to count up the antes blinds raises and bets which can be a chore especially when you are busy trying to make concrete decisions at the table . It would be one less headache to worry about it. However on the flip side it might tend to make live play less beatable for newbies or fish  than it is in its present format . With the advent of those very features online along with HUDS make online play almost unbeatable for the fish

While I would assume digital counters of the pot would be another price tag a casino wouldn’t want to pursue, (primarily because it wouldn’t bring them in any extra immediate money from players imo) I think it’s an advantage you may be overlooking.

When playing against an average person, who might be only thinking on some of the beginner levels of poker, I doubt they are taking the time to count the pot and apply any type of math. Usually it’s a call or fold depending on their cards, not pot odds or implied odds or anything remotely covered within training sites such as TPE. Without an automated scale-type counting system hovering over the sum of chips in the middle, it allows thinking players another slight edge over the average player out there just enjoying themselves at the casino.

Agree with not implementing automated scale system over the pot , but scale system of stack size would be a huge plus because there are many times i have final tabled thinking my short stack is almost even with other players only to find out they have 3 or 4 brown chips (25k each ) buried underneath the small denomination chips and its not that easy to detect unless those chips are in the front and most of the time they are not . Of course you can always request they make them more visible but its annoying to have to ask when they should know better

In LIVE poker, you should always be looking at other players stacks so you know how much they are playing with.  As a tourney goes on that a very important factor because bet sizing comes into play a lot as pots get bigger and players stacks get smaller.

It’s a player job to make sure his BIG chips are in the front so every player can see them.

Ex.  If a player is putting his smaller chips in the front of the stack and “HIDING” the big chips.  I tell the dealer to remind the player that ALL BIG chips have to displayed in the front of a stack.

That’s part of poker.  Same when a player puts out a lot of chips of different colors as a bet.  It’s up to the player to either see the chips or ask the dealer how many.  If you don’t do either and just call thinking all your opponents chips added up to 4k when they actually were 24k……   Shame on you.  At times, it’s a visual game and you need to pay attention.

*Lets me honest, some kind of counter you are asking for is not going to be done for a while.  it’s going to cost LOTS of money.  Plus, like Cam said, the PRO’s and better player are not going to want it because it’s an advantage they have over lesser players who can’t count the pot or miss count it.  Guys are complaining now about a “SHOT CLOCK”  ughhhhh

That’s poker.

The hiding the chips thing only bugs me if i am shortstacked at final table and i am fooled into thinking my stack size is somewhat even  with some of the field  when in reality some of the  25k chips are mixed in with the smaller denominations thinking they can fool the short stacked players into shoving . It wont happen again  thanks for the tip. As far as the shot clock thing  i could care less how long someone takes to make a decision . Least of my worries  Some people are downright rude and impatient  to the point where even if you are not the one tanking,  you feel like telling the impatient party, ” You in a hurry got something important to do ?  You want fast action play BJ  alot less tanking in that arena
