Hi guys,

Its a discusion me and a couple of guys in my Uni poker society were having which I would thought I would extend to you guys.

Its the first hand of the WSOP Main Event and UTG shoves all in first hand, you have no history with this guy and have never seen him before.

What hands are you calling with?

yeah, pretty sure AA is the only correct answer. I would definitely not fold KK face up though.  smile

Yeah my answer was AA. Tho we questioned the possibility of someone shoving first hand as part of a prop bet. Therefore the balance of however many times the guy has AA and how many times that guy is shoving for a side bet? Which brings the possibiltiy of playing KK. However, im sure we can just destroy this guy in the next few levels and wouldnt need to risk it at this stage.

which brings up the question…

How much would someone have to pay you to have you shove blind the first hand of the WSOP (regardless of action ahead of you).

I mean, chances of someone waking up with a hand they can call you with are slim…but it sucks when they do.

given i have never played the WSOP main before, and the experience alone would be worth quite a lot of money to me, i would have to be paid quite a lot to shove first hand haha. prolly a few grand, maybe even up to 10 haha.

Maybe it's just me, but if he looks and jams, I'm only calling w/ AA .

If he doesn't look and open rips………….  I'm only calling with AA and folding everything else.

My luck, I have KK/QQ, He had A6o and goes runner runner 66 to send me home in the tourneys very first hand.  I might even fold AA, lol.

in live games I never look at my hand until the action gets to me (so I can watch the action in front). Therefore, I should know if he looked or not, but thats irrelevant, as I wont have looked at my cards, so it would be an easy fold without looking…

Turb, I do the same.  Never look until it gets to me and I'm looking at everyone as they look.  When I'm in the blind, if it's folded to me… I just muck the free pass. never want to see that I got AA when everyone folded, lol.
