The ANZPT queenstown series took place last week and which 2 TPE members, both myself and emufart played.

With so much to do in that amazingly beautiful part of the world emu and i started by going up the gondalas and having some races on the luge (downhill racing on plastic gravity powered carts).. after winning 1 race each emu and i decided to get serious and race right from the top..

Well ater taking the lead over emu early i drop in this hill and boost it toward some feeble young lady up ahead of us.. i proceed to take the inside line and unsurprisingly she crosses directly into my path and i have 10cm of track left between her and the stump of the end of the only fucken wooden rail on the entire course on the inside of this corner.. its an easy snap fold for me and i just decide to bail at high speed and proceed to introduce my right butt cheek to about 4 metres length of concrete.. i stand up and turn around to see emu screeming toward me and get up just in time to bail a 2nd time.. emu takes the the chip lead 1-0

The next day was Day 1b of the ME (3k buyin) and we were both ready to go and of course always wearing some TPE regalia!!!

But you gotta be shitting me it saw the most horrible of seat draws for the 2 of us seated directly next to one another!!

however.. we were quite fortunate to have probably the single worst player in the history of ANZPT at our table.. but this ends up kinda funny

The guy had a VPIP of approximately 90%, could not fold 5th pair, chased everything, overplayed TP or better, and had no idea how to 3bet pre nor get value from his monsters

Funnily enough, this guy was the CL at our table after 30 hands or so.. limps UTG and calls an iso.. flop 464 chk calls, turn T chk calls, river brick bets out and turns over J4o when called.. limp calls from EP again, chk calls 3 streets on Jxxx7 and has J7>AJ.. calls a 3bet OOP w T9o and on T9549 board gets paid on all streets by AA.. etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

I mean this guy is a dream to have at your table really.. but it just seemed it was his day this day.. the whole table was trying to get his chips but he ran like forest gump at showdown

I managed to go from 20k up to 33k on 3rd hand of the day.. @ 50/100 i flat a MP raise from c/o w 99.. sb 3bets and i call.. he barrells 876 flop and 5 turn both of which i call.. river is the 4 w no flushes and i raise his 3rd barrel and he calls hoping to chop

After chipping down a bit after a couple of failed bluffs emufart ended up check jamming the 965ss flop with AJs and the table fish wakes up with 99 and fades emus draws to bust him..

Then i open AA UTG+1 to 600 @blinds 150/300, capable oz player 3bets me from MP to 1.7k.. Fish flats in MP and it folds back around to me.. i have approx 36k to start hand and 4bet to 6.2k.. fish calls..

Flop is Td8c7c with around 14.5k in pot…

I bet around 5k, he SNAP jams for 25k more and i just spew fold.. he shows 77.. i end the day with 22.5k..

Basically the FISH took just about all of our chips!

day 2 was a roller coaster that ended after 3 levels in the space of 10 hands or so.. i drop to 12k then double twice TT>55 aipf and JJ>K6s on the J94ss flop to 48k.. lose 2 medium flips back down to 25k @500/1k

My bustout hand was a pretty nice spot, active UTG mins and UTG+1 flats both >50k.. i wake up with QQ in MP and decide just stuffing it in looks weakest as i have shown TT 3bet shoving and shown JJ with a standard 3bet in the 2 earlier hands both less than 30bigs deep

UTG tanks for around 2 minutes and im willing him to call.. he calls and i fist pump under the table until i see he has AA and its gg me

Day 3 we went to 1 of the 4 ski fields in the vicinity and it was an absolutely beautiful day!

After sussing out how good emu is at snowboarding we decide to end the day with a flat out race from the top of the mountain where we get off the chairlift right to the bottom.. for god knows what reason we decided the finish line would be the first person to touch the snowboard rack outside the building..

Now it is possible when you come off the bottom of the slope to continue riding and make it to the building which is about 30metres or so of riding through a 10metre wide path which is usually full of people unclipping their skis and boards..

Problem is, this is a race!!

So getting amped up going up the chairlift we get off and proceed to do our bindings up and we're off!!

I get about a 4-5m lead and tell myself im not gonna brake/turn if i can help it, but by half way down the mountain i was going faster than i've ever gone before and almost shitting my pants.. I brake a twice and after another 50m emu with momentum catches up to me..

so i have a backup plan and divert to the left coz theres this big drop where i can gain my speed back..

I take the drop and when i come back around we are absolutely flying again and at a solid tie with about 50m of drop to go before the flat where people are detaching themselves from their boards..

Now im a pretty competitive guy so i like dont even think about stopping at this point coz i wanna win.. im gonna just dodge the few people who are down there and fly right up to that board rack!

again, unfortunately, theres some pathetic guy at a stand still who steps off his snowboard right in ****ing front of me at almost full speed (admittedly it was just past the sign that says SLOW DOWN).. so i smash right into this poor young guy and end up, again, on my arse up against the fence while emu casually rides off to win again.. 2-0 emu

That afternoon we get together with a 3rd friend who qualified on stars and we play some cash.. then decide to chuck in 200 bucks each and play 3 games and whoever wins gets to play the next side event.. we play blind mans bluff (its basically NLHE but you turn your cards over and hold them up on your forehead and the other players see them while you only see theirs).. and we also played last card.. emu loses and i come 2nd and our friend plays while we rail him drunk till he busts with 2 tables left..

Next day we go play mini-golf.. for some reason noone wanted to accept my $10 a point at the end of 18 holes, so we just play random prop bets for decisive putts.. i end up 100bucks or so.. but looking at the score card i would been up >500bucks coz i just owned emu and the other 2.. good fold pre for all of them i guess.. score  2-1 to emu

On the last night emu and i decide to play the teams event.. its a $550 buy in (combined) turbo, which had maybe 20 teams.. and you alternate with eachother after every 30min level.

we proceed to just absolutely crush the field and go to FT as CL..

after some pretty epic bubble punishing (one team member said she would be scared to call with AA out loud for fear of busting lol) we end up heads up with these czech republic guys..

In an awesome twist, the tourney director says to us that we can BOTH sit down and BOTH look at our hole cards and discuss our decision between us.. pretty epic imo but anyway we call off our last 10bbs w K8o and cant hold vs T7o..

We did win $3k so i guess its some consolation for not running deep in the ME…

All in all a great trip in a brilliantly beautiful part of the planet with truly world class scenery..

Gosh this ended up such a long post, but if it somehow attracts at least 1 other TPE member to come over next year then all the time ive spent typing is worth it..
