Well one year after my first “real” live tourney at the WSOPC in Vancouver, i'm back at it again at this years event. I had a hard time adjusting to live play last year and bounced at level 6 after putting myself in a bad position with 15 bb left. Essentially, I flat called a couple hands that I probably should have just folded (ie. AXs) and got myself into trouble.

I've played a few live tourneys at my local casino's in the last year to get a better adjustment. I find just playing tight the first few hours gets me set up pretty good to make a run as plenty of people are willing to stack off on top pair, speculative hands. Mind you those tournies are terrible structures and usually less than $100 buyin.

Any and all last minute tips or adjustments would be appreciated! Cheers.

I think what you said is correct at times especially with this structure.  You are going to see clowns spewing chips.  Better to sit back a bit, play tight and see what others are doing.  Unless your BigDog who's going to come to the WSOPC in Atlantic City and raise blind every hand for an entire round. and have 100K by level 6, LOL.  That's not my style. lol

Lots of it depends on how good/bad your table is.  If you can take advanage of your tbl because they are soft, I say go for it.  You have to accumulate chips in this thing some how.

agreed.  and be careful about what you said about speculative hands, etc.  When you start getting down in that BB area, best to be looking to play hands you are ready to go all the way with. Look for good resteal spots and open shove spots when you get short.  Identify players you think are not going to be calling correctly, etc.
