As a celebration for several events happening in May my wife and I are going on a cruise to Alaska. It is one of the card player cruises which will have live tournament poker. Anyone been on one of these? know the buy-ins and structures? thoughts about the fields? better or worse than brick and mortar.

Thanks

I have never been on one, but would love to hear a trip report as I have considered it before.  let us know how it is!

No experience with the Card Player cruises, however, on most other cruises that offer poker the games are unbelievably soft.  The people are there for a vacation, not to grind out an hourly.  On a Carnival cruise, for example, they usually try to run one tourney with the Poker Pro electronic tables and cash games will run sparingly.  I'm sure your experience will be quite different, and I look forward to a trip report. GL have fun.

Never been on a big one over multiple days, only one for 5hours, everyone was really bad and really drunk, but the format was hyper hyper hyper turbo so didn’t matter really. So as long as they structure the games reasonably id say you would have a fairly large edge.

I just got back from a Carnival cruise and no games ever ran. Seems like you almost need a few props to get it going and teach people how to use the e-table.
