I figured i would start this as a way of having a nice little guide to LIVE Tells. I use this term loosely because its been beaten like a dead horse of what is a dead give away and all that bullshit.

Not to say that all of these are anwhere close to even 75% accurate at all. I think this can be a GREAT post that can easily be stickied if people realize this is a post for information that can help gather info. Were not lookin for the KGB oreo cookie cracking thing here.

But I am interested in and would love to have people post about are:

HOW do you go about LOOKING FOR, RECOGNIZING, INDUCING, and INTERPRETING useful info in LIVE PLAY [generally or in specific circumstances] :

I will start.

As a general rule no matter if I am folding or not. When someone makes a large raise before me i take the time to watch them during the raise and then when it is my turn i take anywhere from 5-20 seconds to look over at them, until they realize they are watching me, to see how they will react…

Often i do this just to see how the person acts under pressure of a 'hostile opponent'. I feel it gives me a small preview of how this person will act later on if pushed, because i feel most people at the table are non confrontational. Sometimes i even say a word or two. You never know until you try this what people will offer. Sometimes a person will want to chat at you in nervousness or sometimes they will seem to collapse and look away like a scolded dog who was caught biting your favorite shoes.

I will say the caviat of my overall table presence is a factor as i wear shades and am pretti stoic most of the time. Especially toward those on the opposite side of the table as me.

My advice would be to focus on one player at a time.  There's no much happening at a 9 or 10 man live table that it's easy to be so busy looking around that you don't really see anything.  Choose a player to your left (most useful to have tells on the people acting after you) who seems less experienced and just stare at them.

More important than anything is to pay enough attention to the game that you get the “online” tells of betting patterns, sizing, etc.  These are infinitely more valuable than twitches.
