Hey Guys,

Names David from Australia just wanted to say hi and give abit of history about me. Been playing poker for a few years now basically in homegames + live casino cash. Never really got into online much until recently when I moved to a remote mining town thus not being able to play live. Im definetly more comfortable playing cash games NL and PLO. My SnG and MTT game basically fails. Always seem to spew my decent stack during mid levels etc. So here i am wanting to learn and absorb from the best.

If anyone can give me a quick rundown on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to chatting and learning from everyone.

Thanks

Feralcrab.

welcome to TPE buddy

basically i have found that this site will give you as much as you are willing to put into it

I started a month or so ago and the 1st thing i did was watch all of bigdog's videos from the start and didnt really play much poker at all during that time

Then from there i started playing volume's of micro MTT's and had immediate success

I did make sure though that i have word or notepad open to copy and paste hand histories

This leads to what i feel is a very important aspect of poker improvement – which is getting familiar with the hand history converter and actually posting critical hands or hands where you're not sure what you could have done better or worse for discussion in the forums.

So you paste them in the forums and leave them open for discussion by others

Very valuable imo

I also make an effort to browse every hand that someone pastes in the MTT strategy forum and make a comment on it

So basically watch as many videos as you can, apply the priniciples, and then view and paste as many hands in the forums as you feel like and watch your bankroll growlaugh

G'Day David,

There are a few Aussies on this site, which is great to see.  I'm a relatively new member and have gained considerable benefit from checking out the videos as well as the critiqued Hand Histories in the strategy section.  The podcasts are well worth downloading as they contain great insights into MTT strategy by regular pros.  They are also entertaining.  The TPE nation consists of an incredible bunch of like-minded poker players, and in my opinion they are the strength of this site, as they are generous in offerring constructive critism and advice, keen to foster the development of aspiring poker players, and are humble.

thanks for all the responces guys. Really enjoying the site atm and its helped me already so much. basically my first weekend of playing some MTT made a FT placing 8th and a 14th in another in starts $10 20k and 7.5k guarentees. not a bad weekend.

What was really great was in the 2nd tourny i was basically card dead from when we down to 100 players and i staryed alive and about average stack by using alot of the stuff id learned from the theory videos. 3betting all in and repopping people who where trying to steal my blinds etc.

Anyway basically just wanted to let you guys know that really loving the site and hoping to keep learning and soon ill have a nice big score 😀

ill be going through the hand historys tmr so should have a few spots to discuss in the forums soon.
