Hi everyone,

Great to be a part of the Tournament Poker Edge community. Just recently signed up today and hope to start putting in the work required to improve my game. As a bit of background i’ve been playing cash games (5NL and 10NL mostly) for the past few years off and on and have yet to really turn a profit overall. Part of the reason has been mental game issues where I tend to be enticed to play 50NL HU cash games without the proper bankroll or skill set to compete at that level. I’ve decided to reset now and spend more time learning proper play and strategy. My strategy is to start fresh with a $200 deposit to Stars focusing primarily away from the micro cash games and more on the tournament side of things. I guess my first couple questions are as follows:

1. What videos are the best for a new tournament player to refer to? (Is the University the best place to start?)

2. What size tournaments (in buy-in and # of players) should I be starting with? (given the $200 baseline roll)

Thanks in advance,

VB

Hey and welcome to the community,

As far as what to do the University is fantastic and has a great article on bankroll management in it.  If you are looking to not redeposit 200+ buyins is a great place to start, so it looks like $1 buyins and below would be good for you.

Best of luck at the tables,

Wade
