Hello All,

I’ve read and heard it is best to right down your goals as you are more likely to achieve them.  So a little about me.  I play primarily on WPN, at least until New York gets off its ass and regulates.  I’ve played quite a bit with some of the TPE pros here.  Have known about this training site for a bit.  Have tried some others, read most of Jonathan Little’s books and the Mental Game of Poker books and a couple others.  I love this game, I cant stress that enough.  Overall however Im a losing player.  Dont get me wrong ive had some really good stretches.  Have multiple live wins(all daily tournaments up to 215 buy in) have a 5 figure score online, and other nice cashes($1000 plus)  I’ve done enough to know I have an ability to be really good at this.  Im also wildly inconsistent which is why im a losing player overall.  I hero call to much, I play pocket pairs like there going out of style, I put myself in bad situations out of position way too much, I dont always think though the hand and dont properly put people on ranges though out a hand.

I see alot the same people crushing online, I want to be one of those players.  I by no means am looking to be a professional.  I have young kids and am just newly married.  What I am looking for though is to be able to supplement my income with poker.  I often ask myself what those players who are crushing are doing that Im not?  I know some of the answers to this question, one of which is the studying aspect.  I’ve found though my really good stretches, they seem to correspond with the times Im really doing work away from the table.  Im sure thats not a coincidence.  I need to be more disciplined in spending time studying the game and trying to fix the leaks I know are stopping me from crushing online. One attribute I do have that I think is necessary in poker, I have a unrelenting believe in myself that I can be really good at this consistently.  I have no quit in me, regardless of how many bad beats, stupid plays, or tournament punts that happen I keep coming back.  I love this game!  I will have a major score down the road.  I feel it is inevitable. I could probably ramble on for a while but I think that is enough.  Thanks for reading

Hey man, you are in the same boat as me. This is a great community for sure. I would recommend that you keep at it. Play hard and be patient. One thing that I have learned in the years of playing poker is that we may “see” the crushers out there but they fight through variance as well. It’s just chin up and onto the next one.

Now with that said, be humble, work on the game and really work on the mental aspect as that in score of the fundamentals of the game will allow you to begin crushing. Even Fedor Holz can’t win every hand, he will have to elect to fold and lose chips and someone else has to scoop them up out from under him.
