Hey guys,
Good to be here and glad to be a member, so much information here. I am a book/practice guy but lately have not been in the mood much for reading books, other than Gus Hansens book I havent studied or worked much on my game other than playing but now I am back at being a student of the game and looking forward everyday to improving it. Although books have their place these videos are much more my cup of tea at the moment. I have been playing poker for about 7 years now, didn't start out very good…. actually I think I was the worst player ever because I learned from watching TV and thought everyone would fold to aggressiveness. I'd say after I read Harrington on Hold em' seris in 2008 is when I started taking it seriously and gettting better. I've alway been middle to above average but not on that other level. Last year I thought was my year, made some adjustments started playing the dailies at the WSOP last year and started off good, cashed 3rd in a $125 daily for 4k I wanna say, cashed in the PLO event for another 4K (?), then got 2nd out of 800 or so in the $235 daily for over 18k but played about 6 events after that and didn't cash any, during that time I bought my dream car 68' Camaro, not all my BR but a good chunk of it, played some more tourneys after the WSOP with not much luck so now I have about 0 bankroll and selling my car in it's condition is a last resort. I am currently restoring my 69 Chevy truck and that is gonna be a jump in my bankroll but that is a couple months away, also thinking of using just like 1 or 2k from my truck to use as my BR then the rest on restoring my Camaro which will bring me in enought to play comfortably in next years WSOP and a few others when I will be filled with all this new found info from TPE. I know not the smarted BR managment but I didn't really blow it just kind of put it where it wasn't quickly accesible.
I felt I have been good at poker for at least a few years but I have always been missing that one thing to set me apart, like a lot of my busts have been on losing coinflips, I was more of a tight aggressive player, rarely 3 betting and only with premiums and never really 4 betting unless it was a shove. My big cash last year I was playing loose aggressive, lost some flips but was still in it because of playing aggressive stealing and building that stack to where I could lose some flips. I wouldn't say that it was a fluke but I just had a general idea of how to get to that point, read Gus Hansens book and that helped a lot playing to win and not just cash, but watching these videos on here has showed me the intricacies of it all, and especially watching Bigdogs and kidcardiffs (along with others) live sweats and HHR is ridiculously helpful in learning all the ins and outs of it. Reading a book is one thing, you are mostly going through the hands and working them out in your own head, but watching a live sweat or HHR is something new to me and so much more intricate….. I already know what goes through my head in a certain spot/hand but to see inside some of these pros heads is just awesome. Picked up more about image building in the last few weeks than any other time in my poker career, understanding why 3 and 4 betting is good even if someone comes over the top of you and you have to fold is so important. Played a live tourney Friday but don't think I implemented a lot of this stuff, nobody folds pre and bet sizing has to be bigger than normal for a $125 live buying, would raise 4x and still get 3 callers that limp pre. Raise folding, not playing ABC…. really looking forward to using this stuff next WSOP.
