What’s up TPE? My name is Mitch, I go by Mav, Maverick, any reasonable variation welcome…..a little bit of non-poker about me….I’m 34 years old, hail from the great state of Ohio, recently got engaged back in August to a wonderful girl who I really don’t deserve, and life’s pretty great! I work full time as a parts supervisor for a Caterpillar machinery dealer, before that, spent a few years in management at Gamestop, so made a huge culture switch in my career. I love pursuing new interests and goals, I’m currently attending Wright State University and I’m halfway to my bachelor’s degree in investment finance, currently carrying a 3.7 GPA!
I first started playing poker back in 2003 as a result of the Moneymaker boom. My first deposit was on PartyPoker, way back in the day when they didn’t measure levels by time, but by hands! I’m not sure if it was my 2nd or 3rd MTT, but I scored a 3rd place for $2,600, and then the next week finished second in my first ever live tournament and took down another $900! As all new players go, I burned right through that playing…..I’ve gone busto several times throughout my poker career, at various times due to playing too big, tilting, all the normal stuff amateurs go through. I finally stopped playing in 2008 for several years to focus on getting my career and life into balance. I completely missed out on the Black Friday tragedy. I popped back online early in 2014 to check out what was going on on Pokerstars to find it shut down completely. I used the magic of Reddit to find my way to Bovada, and that brings us to today! My liferoll is good and stable, and I feel confident and mature enough to exercise good bankroll management and try to have fun playing poker on my terms! I can play cash, but feel much more at home playing tournament poker. I currently have my challenge listed on the forum under the challenges, I am attempting to grow a small starting stack by grinding out micro STT’s, you can track along with me! I would like to get to a point where I can start my own Twitch stream, but that day is still very far off! Any questions, feel free to ask me, I’m looking forward to studying and learning along with everyone!
