Hello everyone,

My name is Harvey and I’ve been playing poker recreationally. I am a losing player but I love playing the game. This year i wanted to start taking poker seriously. I had a hard time deciding what format I wanted to specialize in and what training site to sign up for. So i finally decided on playing tournaments for the glory and high risk high reward. I live in California so the site I solely play on is ACR. I recently purchased a new laptop, pt4, holdem resource calculator, and power equilab. I have no idea how to use any of them lol. I deposited $100 into ACR and hopefully i can run it up. Should i play songs to build my bankroll or play micro MTTS for experience and volume? Any tips and help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and I am glad to be here! I plan to get a coach by the end of this year.

-Harvey

Hey Harvey, welcome! I’m also new here at TPE. If you want to play MTTs on ACR with only a $100 bankroll, believe it or not there is a lot of value in playing the on-demand tournaments. I’ve been grinding the $0.55 on-demand for the last week. It’s a great way to get some volume in and not risk a lot at first. The fields are super soft. They also start the tournament off with antes at the 50/250/500 level, so you get some experience in early/mid/late stages pretty quick. If you put some hours in studying everyday and play 15-20 of these after, I find myself getting into spots all the time where I’ve just gone over a concept in a University video earlier. Also, take a look in the micro tournament lobby. They have several guaranteed prize pool tournaments throughout the day within your bankroll that will have bigger fields but nice payouts for a small investment. Hope this helps Harvey!

good advice on the On Demands. they are pretty soft at the lower buyin levels and you can get quite a bit of volume in. Mixing in SNGs would be a good idea too.
