Hello,

I've just joined TPE after watching the free videos and listening to some of the podcasts.  I'm been primarily a cash game play since around 2006, but I've dabbled in low buyin tournaments with mixed levels of success.  I do play live tournaments at the local casino a couple of times a month, but I've never really taken much time to learn how to play stacks of less than 50 – 100bb.  I've read some tournament books such as the Harrington series and the first volume of “one hand at a time”, but I'm really lost when it comes to understanding proper shoving, restealing and calling ranges.  Its time I sorted this out so I've decided to dedicate myself to tournaments for the rest of 2013 and see how it goes.  I've recenty taken most of my poker bankroll off of stars, but I still have $400 on there to play with.  For a player of my level who is competent with 100bb but doesnt really know what to do with 20, where do you think I should start? What videos are best to watch first? I'm currently playing $1 – $4 MTTs on stars with fields of 000's of players, do I have the bankroll for this?

Any help would be appreciated, see you around the forums.

Rob

Hey Rob.

Another UK member, great stuff. My suggestion would be to not just focus on learning about stack sizes. There is so much more to MTTs than that. My favorite vids are by

BigDog – hand description and thought process

Wein – small stakes and big field of fish

Ben Warrington – Really articulate and descriptive

Start with some of them and dont forget to go back to the beginning to see the older stuff….its just as good.

See you at Goliath!!

Thanks for the welcome! Don't worry, I'm not planning on just focusing on one area, there is so much to learn, its just I feel especially uncomfortable with shallow stacks.  I think I'm exiting over 50% of tournaments in the middle stages – is this a normal stat?  I've already watch 3 of the 6 MTT math videos, all 7 of big dogs million run, and im now watching micromillion vids and similar as these are the stakes I'll be playing.  Thanks for the vid suggestions, I'll get onto them as soon as I finish my current series.

Yep, I'll be at the goliath.  Wembley first though if I can satellite into day 2 of the ispt!
