Hey all

My name is Carl, im 28yo and from NZ.

I've been playin poker part time for about 4 years on and off, bustoed a few times when i started out totalling 1k or so playing way out of my depth trying to get lucky. my biggest online score is 1.3k in a 24+2 FTP MTT.

Oh and on pokerstars i super-satted into a major tourney package here in NZ (ANZPT queenstown) worth ~3.5k. guess i spent about a hundred bucks overall to qualify and got lucky.

I had a huge live score down in queenstown and shipped a side event $550BI MTT turbo for exactly $8k! (apologies if im bragging) but busted the main not even close to the money.

I dabbled in STT's for the past few months being a member of SnG grinders (excellent site) but craved the big scores MTT's have so signed up here.

I have actually began to love playing poker now, not because im winning or anything (far from it) but knowing theres so much to learn and improve on, its endless. The psychology and mathematics and thinking involved is something i think i could be great at and really enjoy.

Id like to think i have a good lifetime ROI but my ROI this year is a meager 9% at my micro stakes but i plan to change this with the help of TPE

Anyway – i do have a full time job (sigh) which you all will cringe at me quitting because im a junior surgical doctor here in NZ.. thing is.. i have no where near as much drive, passion and desire to improve my clinical knowledge or theory in medicine as i do to be great at poker! just a pity that my ROI is but a micro-fraction of my current salary lol

Im really looking forward to the scores that i know im going to have after watching all of the videos on this site and sponging up the wisdom here.

Who knows, one day ill make it.. with determination and hard work its just a matter of whenlaugh

im strictly hapetimes on stars and hardly ever play full tilt now.

See you guys at the table.

btw if you have any medical questions, hit me and ill forward them on to my good friend Dr Googlewink

Great intro Mate. Cool to see you're keen to chase what makes you happy.  You definitely need courage to make those decisions… that combined with your science-based education indeed props you up to become a formidable  poker player.
