Hello TPE members, I'm a new tpe member, being playing poker since 2008 (mostly live cash). I'm clueless when it comes to tournaments and that's why I'm here. I'm started tpe university and I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on what would be useful (other tpe content, books or forums, ect …)

Thank you !

Vincent

What made you take interest in tournaments all the sudden? US player or other? How did live cash treat you?

TPE university is a great place to start. If you are super new to tournaments, then even books like Harrington on Holdem could be beneficial. If you learn well with video's I would just watch a ton and try my best to absorb. Playing only a couple tables at a time is probably the best to focus and learn at first. GLGL

Hi hawkeyeK9, thanks for replying. I’m from Montréal Canada. Live cash at the casino 1 / 2 has being good to me because most players only focus on their two cards. I did read the Harrington 6-Max cash book and one of the two Harrington cash game books a few years back. I also watched a few 6-Max cash videos. I have tilt issues with online poker, I’ll play a good 3-4 sessions (win or lose) and them a steam session takes my motivation away and I don’t play for a month (online 10nl and 25nl). Why do I want to get into tournaments? I made a few final tables at the casino a few years back (pure luck) and always wanted to learn how to play them and get better at them. Also, if I have a good session (no tilt or good tilt control) 65% of the time, I feel I should be playing tournaments and not cash (online). I obviously want to work on the tilt issue … I have the 3 Harrington tournament books, so I should start with that ? It’s still good information in 2014 ? Do you have another book in mind I should get ? I will focus on tpe university (2 videos a day) so I have plenty on my plate for now.

Thanks for your input!

yeah, if you are brand new to tournaments I think HOH books still has some value for learning some tournament basics.  Also check out the podcasts we have here as well as the Thinking Poker podcasts.  Some good info to be had there.

Ok, I'll listen to the podcast, thanks for the advice ! I'm reading Harrington on Modern Tournament Poker for now.
