I find myself to be in a frustrating situation.  Can’t play online and I live 4.5 hours from the nearest legitimate card room.  I adamantly prefer tournaments over cash and I can’t sleep in my car during the winter time.  Travel time and a bankroll big enough to play in the tournaments I want to are my biggest obstacles.  I have played and cashed in one heartland poker event and i believe cashed in 2 of 3 mid states poker events.  I have taken top 4 in 2/3 230$ events at canterbury with about 75 players each and beyond all that I haven’t had much success.  I grew up playing cash/sit n gos/ tourneys with friends and at the local casino but I feel that I thrive in more expensive and luxurious tournaments.  I have read the Harrington on Hold Em tournament series and through a small amount of experience I feel I have a bit of a grasp on deciding starting hand requirements, gap concept, pot odds, implied odds, odds of making hand, varying playing styles and defending against each, changes in M, position advantages, betting patterns,  and bankroll management (although I have never in my life had a decent bankroll to manage).  None of the things I have mentioned are subjects I have come close to mastering and I know there are many topics I haven’t even heard about.  Although my geographical location and finances do hinder my true poker potential, I fully desire and believe that i have the capabilities to profit from this life changing and remarkable potential career.  I understand that tournament poker can be a grind.  I have satellited the day of into each major(1100) tournament I have played in.   I would try list my strengths but I have way more weaknesses: Focus over long periods of time, patience when i don’t have incentive(due to shitty attitude/tilt/low stack), feelings of pressure because i feel as if every tournament i play is my only chance(work full time job and can only play sparingly).  in the process of attempting to start my own drywall/painting company to be able to fund and create time to get away and play more cards.  i have noticed this site favors online tourneys and if I am wrong please let me know.  I am not opposed to online provided I can figure out a successful way to activate an account and I realize that burden falls on me therefore if anyone can dissect anything I’m saying and possibly give any criticisms or guidance, I would be grateful and hopefully one day I could reciprocate in some way.

There are some decent options for playing online in the US these days. None are perfect, but Ive been playing pretty regularly on ACR for close to 8 years or so and have never had any issues with cashing out or anything like that.

You can CLICK HERE to sign up for ACR.  They have a pretty good number of turbo tournaments every day that might be good for a small window of time to play.

Either way, good luck!
