Hi all,

Thanks for having me at TPE. My name is René. I'm 42 years old and live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

I started playing poker while living in Northern Virginia in the mid 90's. For roughly 10 years, while moving to places like Stockholm, Kiev and Prague, it was strictly home draw, stud and lowball games. In 2006 I stumbled onto Party Poker. Started playing online a bit, but more importantly it helped me discover the bigger poker world out there. Tournaments, Hold'em, No Limit, Moneymaker… All new to me at the time.

I still mainly have been a live player. Profitable in cash games, about break even in tournaments. Biggest score was taking 2nd in a 1k tournament in Portugal for 17k. Due to time constraints, I'd like to play more online in the future, particularly MTT's. Right now I am a steady loser online. Which is the reason for being here. I don't mind losing money (never play for amounts that would be painful), but I think poker will be more fun winning.

Cheers,

René

Welcome sir, the TPE university may be a good place to start. You'll be winning again in no time.

Also, rememember that the best players go long periods without winning due to the high variance nature of MTT's. Just focus on studying, enjoying the game and being a better player than you were yesterday and results will follow.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

TPE University is something I'm looking at. I downloaded a bunch of videos for my iPad. First series that I've been looking at are Andrew Brokos on Hand Reading and Ben Hayles on HEM 2.0. Both were excellent and helped me immediately. Looking forward to watching more.

I always recommend Ben Warringtons premier series and any of Chris Moons videos. They are a good balance between really good explanations yet the videos always have lots of interesting spots.
