Hi,
Was a half decent player about 2-3 years ago had the odd decent win but playing poker and running new a business weren't easy so I stopped totally. Luckily I can now delegate more so have more time for some recreational games. I'm not interested in being a pro, its not about the money and will never put high volume in but still want to be the best player I can be. I really enjoyed playing and probably need to start over. Was wondering if reading something like Kill Everyone along side this great site help with my Push / Fold knowledge? I feel like areas like this is where I am very weak.
Really looking forward to getting back into poker again and being a winning player.
Thanks

kill everyone is a great book. some of the stuff is a little outdated now, like the open raise sizes etc, but other than that it is awesome.

Tournament poker years are like dog years, so a book written 3 years ago is going to have a fair amount of outmoded concepts. What was considered “standard” raise-sizing then is considered large now.
Although in fairness, lots of sickos employing 4x (and even bigger) preflop raise sizing now and having great success with it…although I see some people trying to employ it and doing it very very poorly. lol. Its a pretty interesting evolution though will be curious to see if 3 years from now everyone and their brother is 4xing pre.

Thanks Ive had it a while and never read it but literally about to start reading it mate. What do you mean about the open raise sizes?
Cheers
it assumes that everyone is 3x raising in early stages, then 2.5x, then 2.2x in the late stages, doesnt really talk about min raising (in fact there is a prologue where they do talk about the fact that raise sizes had already changed by the time they got the book out)
so you just need to adjust accordingly, especially when they talk about the equilibrium 3 and 4bet ranges, keep in mind that these will be slightly different, but if you get your thinking cap on it shouldnt be much of a problem (its not like you could memorise them anyway)

this is interesting, because now when i see a 3x raise from someone late in a tournament, and they dont have completely horrible stats, i just freeze up and im not sure what to do, and im sure i stop 3betting as light. so there is probably pretty decent merit in this
