Hey guys,
My name is Thomas and I am a 26 year old Aussie boy residing in Sydney.
Really looking forward to improving my game through TPE and creating an online network with fellow MTT grinders!
My long life story:
- Played home games with mates weekly from the age of 17 and fell in love with the game (always loved competition and been able to destroy my mates). My dream was to play poker all day, everyday, living free as a bird.
- Out of school, I worked a full time cadetship at a mid-tier chartered accounting firm from 18-21 whilst studying a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) part time – yawn.
- Moved to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia at 21 and worked in financial accounting for the institutional banking business and for the online stockbroking business.
- Completed the Chartered Accountants Program from 22-25 to officially certify my status in this world as a bore.
- With all the studying, I hardly took leave and accumulated 10 weeks holidays which I was forced to take. Made a plan with work to take every Monday and Tuesday off for 20 weeks from October 2014 (part-time work, full time pay – not bad!) and then take a European holiday . During this time I grinded the Sunday Majors on stars (aboud88) and worked on improving my game. This period, along with some family issues really put life into perspective for me and made me realise that been in a corporate environment for your teens and early 20’s sucks the life experience opportunities out of you!!.
- As a result, I applied for the Bank’s “career break” program which is offered to employees with 5 years service to study/travel. I was successful and now want to dedicate the time to crush MTTs and travel (I can return to the Bank anytime with 3 months pay to look for a role – I want to make sure that this never happens).
- Having financial security from working full time for 8 years with no real expenses (living at home), riding some penny stocks to the moon, buying a property and having a post-grad education and industry experience made it a no brainer to take the leap and to dedicate the energy, focus and time poker deserves to be successful.
- I recently returned from a 5 week holiday to the States and am now preparing myself to grind.
Personally:
- I have the DRIEST sense of humour
- I love researching and investing in stocks and reading all things finance (if you want a tip let me know, I’m good at setting fire to capital )
- I part own 3 racehorses in Sydney (1 decent gelding and 2 decent donkeys)
- I love a good drink and banter
Looking forward to getting in touch with the community
Happy grinding
