Hi I'm Tim and I suck at poker. Since playing online since 2005  I'm down just over $1K.  Interestingly at live 1/2NL I do extremely well, due I believe from a knack at picking up tells and the fact that the players I played against were beyond pathetic.

But online I still suck despite studying the game seriously since 2008 via books, sites such as RPT, PXF, PSP and recently here. I have also been coached my MSCELL. Guess I am a slow learner and often forget what I learned in the heat of the moment. I have also been on a extended downturn and ironically the more I study the worse my results are. Obviously I am still not getting it.

I do wonder how long it will take me to finally reach the 'ah ha' stage and actually be able to successfully put what I learned into practice.

On another note, as some one who has taught adults as both a university lab instructor and as a technical trainer for a telco, I want to say the best instructors are on this site.

I play as y2ktim on FT and dastim on AP.

All the best

Tim

Welcome Tim…gotta say you aren't completely alone. I have been playing seriously for about 18 months and it takes a lot of work to improve. I am starting to slowly turn things around and make deep runs. To help along the learning curve the vids from the pro's here are second to none, but I also highly recommend getting involved in the forums and the weekly study group. These are two amazing tools that will really help you grow and see situations from lots of different perspectives from one of the most active and insightful poker communities I have been involved in. Good Luck at the tables and welcome to TPE!

WelcomeCool

You are already getting better by realizing you have issues with your game.  Start watching vids and posting here and Im sure you will see what some of your problems are.

Post as many hands as you can, Tim. Each time you see a good response to the spot you were in make a note of it, even if it has to be in a notebook next to you while you play so you can use the time bank and refer to it.

The learning curve is different for everyone.
