Hello all here at TPE hope you're having a good day. I finished up the 1st course of the University and all I needed to do was introduce myself.  I've been playing off and on for over 10 years.  I was introduced to the game via ESPN and then a small home game with co-workers.  That quickly grew into finding cash games around San Antonio if I wasn't playing on PokerRoom.  Well I became an EMT and family quickly grew and poker took a backseat.  I live near a casino in Texas called Kickapoo Lucky Eagle.  They have a website which lists all offerings but the shorthand is mostly $1-$2 and $2-$5 with the $5-$10 getting filled on the weekends.  A couple weekly tournaments that average 50 to 60 runners with tops being anywhere from $900-$1.2K.  Obviously I'm here because I love playing on the internet due to the sheer convenience of playing whenever and however I please. It also helps with not having to find childcare when I drive down to the casino.  Since the US is still being a tool, although slightly coming around, we can't play on the biggest site but I've been trying to hone my skilles on Americas Cardroom.  I'm not certain as to how long I'll be able to play on that site and obtain any part-time funds on the side.  I've seen Killingbird playing on ACR so it must be legit, right? If anyone has some quick insight into what type of HUD stats are essential or best for an intermediate player but new to HUD usage.  I used some sort of sng software with PokerRoom, but that was over 10 yrs ago. TPE is the best gift I've received in a long time for Father's Day.  I can't wait to dive more into the University.

Thanks for everything and best wishes,

                                                        Phil Munoz

Welcome aboard. There are several HUD threads that can help you out. I'm in a similar situation in that I used to play a lot and would probably be a lot better if I took the time.

The US sites now are just like the sportsbooks. You're probably OK, but if they disappear with you're money, you're fucked. I just assume wait, but having done a lot with online sportsbooks, they're generally going to be OK. I wish there were a site that graded poker rooms the way SBR grades sportsbooks. At least with Bovada you can assume the poker room will pay as reliably as their book does. Also, the players are more likely to be sports bettors, which is nice. HUDs lose a lot of value there, however, because the players are anonymous so you only can collect data for the one tournament they're in with you.

If playing on ACR, get Hold Em Manager 2.  Id start out with relatively basic stats.  VPIP, PFR, 3Bet, FOld to Cbet, etc.

Then work in to more as you get used to utilizing those.
